Innocent or guilty?
Is the Netanyahu Era over? It would seem that charges will be brought against Prime Minister Netanyahu in regards to corruption and bribery. His legal woes were amplified earlier this week after a powerful close confidant turned state’s witness in the escalating corruption investigations. It would seem that possibly the left in Israeli politics is trying to destabilize the government in Israel as the left is doing to President Trump in America. Is Prime Minister Netanyahu in fact guilty as charged? We will have to wait and see, nothing has been proven as yet. There is no doubt that Israel’s enemies will be hoping the charges are true especially the Iranian regime. Having said this what does God’s Word say about this kind of situation concerning a leader?
He removes Kings and sets them up
The Prophet Daniel wrote…“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him.” (Daniel 2:21-22)
Is it a time of crisis
There is no doubt that Israel needs Prime Minister Netanyahu. Iran is on their doorstep and there is no other man capable of handling the crisis and preparing Israel for an attack that will come at some time from Iran. If Benjamin Netanyahu is impeached then Iran may decide to try a missile strike against Israel. Satan is pulling out all the stops to destroy Israel and to get rid of Benjamin Netanyahu. Who can really know if there are any real reasons as to why he should be prosecuted? Why bring up these charges now? It is a time of crisis for Israel and Israelis need to join hands and to stand against their common enemy which is at present Iran, not to mention Turkey moving into Syria. Turkey has no love for Israel either.
No compromise with Iran
Did not Prime Minister Netanyahu clearly and firmly declare in Munich that Israel would not take Iranian aggression but would respond accordingly? No doubt it would seem that the same accusing attacks the left is pulling on President Trump in America is happening to Benjamin Netanyahu by the left in Israeli politics. In all of this we must not lose sight of the fact that God still has everything under control and this includes the situation with Prime Minister Netanyahu. Daniel tells us several things about the God of our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in relation to leaders of nations being raised up or put down .
1. God’s name is eternally blessed and in Him lays ultimate wisdom and might. Wisdom to know what to do in any given situation and the might to rectify the situation according to His infinitely wise, loving and sovereign will especially where world leaders are concerned.
2. God changes the times and the seasons according to His purposes and does not ask any man’s permission. He can change circumstances overnight if He chooses to do so. In saying this He also allows for the freedom of choice by men. He removes kings and sets kings up because He inhabits eternity and sees the beginning from the end of all things that have happened, that are happening now and will happen in the future. Having said this any leader that God in His sovereign purposes has put in power still has a responsibility to God to govern wisely. If he does not then eventually God will remove him. This is what God did with the Kings of Israel and Judah.
3. To those who seek to be wise by the LORD’s standards He gives to them His wisdom and to those who understand the things of God He gives knowledge to carry out His assigned task given to them.
4. He reveals deep and hidden things that are beyond the capability of man to understand unless God reveals those secret things to him. There are the hidden things and the revealed things. In Torah we read concerning the LORD; “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29) If a man walks with God then God will reveal His secrets to that man and especially if that man is a leader in Israel and open to the wisdom of God.
5. He knows what lies in the darkness of the hearts and minds of men and is working against their sinister ambitions and plans and we are told that “He frustrates the plans of the wicked.” Look at what happened to Obama when he betrayed Israel by doing the nuclear deal with Iran? Was he re-elected? His sidekick Hillary, was she elected? You cannot touch Israel unless God permits it and even then they are never out of His watchful eye because “He has engraved them on the palms of His hands!” Light also dwells with Him. He sees the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ as it were. God sees what is happening to Prime Minister Netanyahu and if there is no corruption and the man is looking to the LORD to save Israel and seeks His wisdom then God will deal with the opposition.
Pray for his salvation
If the charges are false then no weapon formed against Benjamin Netanyahu will prosper. God put Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in that position and only God can remove him regardless of the left wing politicians, the PA, Iran, Turkey and the whole Muslim world for that matter. We must earnestly pray every day for Prime Minister Netanyahu and those seeking to work with him in government. (1 Timothy 2:1-3) More so we should pray that he will come to trust in the Lord Jesus the Messiah for salvation and in doing so allow for God’s wisdom to steer the situation he faces.
