The Blood Covenant (Part 3)

The Blood Covenant   (Part 3)

Abraham had responded to the call of God and had left everything he was familiar with and had gone to the Land of Canaan which we know today as Israel. When he first set out he did not know where he was going but trusted in the LORD to lead and to guide him.  Once he had entered Canaan God promised him three things. Firstly, that he and Sarah would have a son of their own even though they could not have children.  Secondly, God promised him descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and later as numerous as the dust and as the sand on the seashore. Thirdly, God promised him and his descendants all of the land of Canaan (Israel) from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River to be for them their everlasting possession.

Being fully persuaded

However, even though Abraham had believed in the LORD and by his faith God had declared him to be righteous in his sight he needed assurance from the LORD concerning inheriting the land God had promised him. In Genesis 15:1-8 we read where he said to the LORD; “How shall I know I will inherit it?” However, in Romans 4:16-22 we read where he “staggered not at the promises of God through unbelief but was strong in faith giving glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised.” He not only had believed in the LORD but had come to the point where he believed the LORD and was fully persuaded that God would honour His word to him.

God’s solution

God’s solution was the Blood Covenant and once this had been cut between God and Abraham that old man of faith knew that God meant business and would honour and fulfil his word to the letter. Once this had been done Abraham became fully persuaded. Even though he made a huge mistake in the business with Hagar and Ishmael he never gave up trusting in the Word of God that he and Sarah would have a son of their own even though she was barren and past the age for childbearing. It was the Covenant of Blood that anchored his soul in hope and gave him the assurance that God would deliver on his promises. In our first two studies we saw that 1. The LORD dealt with Abraham through a promise. 2. The LORD dealt with Abraham through a blood covenant. 3. The LORD deals with us as believers through the New Covenant cut in the blood of the Lord Jesus. We also discovered that when God was making that covenant with Abraham on earth in time that He was making it with the Lord Jesus in eternity at the same time He was making it with Abraham on earth. In the blood covenant everything that belonged to Abraham he made available to God his covenant partner. Likewise all the belonged to God now belonged to His covenant partner Abraham and was his for the asking.

God walked through the blood

In that covenant of blood God cut with Abraham only God Himself walked between the pieces of the divided carcasses but Abraham didn’t. God swore by Himself in that covenant as the Lord Jesus was not yet manifest in flesh. Hundreds of years later Abraham’s seed the Lord Jesus the Messiah would walk the walkway of blood at the cross on behalf of Abraham’s descendants being Israel and by extension and inclusion the faithful body of the Messiah. Not only would the Lord Jesus die for the sins of God’s people but for the sins of the whole world.

Sons and daughters of God

According to the Word of God if we walk in the same kind of faith that Abraham had in God then He will treat us in the same way he treated Abraham His friend. The blood covenant God made with Abraham was affirmed again through Moses the lawgiver and Torah and it was the same covenant of strong friendship that Abraham had cut with God. However the blood covenant cut through the blood of Jesus was not only one of strong friendship but one of sonship. Under the old Covenant God’s people who walked by faith in him were His friends. In the New Covenant those who walk by faith in God and in the Lord Jesus the Messiah are not only God’s friends but His sons and daughters. John the Baptist was the greatest prophet that had ever lived yet his relationship with God was one of strong friendship, but the least believer in the Kingdom of God is greater than John because they are God’s son or daughter by adoption. What God did for Abraham He will do for you and for me if we walk by faith in the footsteps of our father Abraham, the Father of faith and of all who believe! How can we know this? Because of the Blood Covenant! This leads us to the fourth thing we need to understand that relates to the blood covenant.

4. The LORD deals with us as his Covenant Partners:

When you made the Lord Jesus the Lord of your life and gave Him complete control over it you were made one with Him in every way. As it is written; “He who is united with the LORD is one with Him in spirit.” (1 Corinthians 6:17) His very own life became yours. As the Apostle John writes; “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life (the life of God); he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12) The word for life is “Zoe” being the very same life and nature that God has Himself. ‘Zoe’ is that part of God that makes Him God and that very same life is in you as a believer. (John 10:10) The Apostle Peter tells us that as believers we are actually partakers of God’s divine nature. (2 Peter 1:4) As a believer in the Lord Jesus you have God living down on the inside of through his Holy Spirit indwelling and his Spirit has become completely fused and one with your human spirit because you have been born again by the same Spirit of God. (John 3:3) You are not just God’s friend but His son and daughter and adopted into His family and a son and daughter of Abraham, the father of faith. (Romans 4:16-17) Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and you are not only joined to God but to all of your blood washed brothers and sisters in the Messiah. Collectively all of us as believers are corporately the Temple of God, living stones! (1 Peter 2:5) There are five things you need to see about your new standing with God as a believer.

i) You are a Joint-Heir with the Lord Jesus:

(Romans 8:15-17) “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.”

Chequeing privileges

When you made the Lord Jesus the Lord and master of your life you gave Him chequeing privileges. In other words you offered Him the blank cheque of your life and signed it over to Him unreservedly and that without any conditions. You became a little brother and sister of the Lord Jesus by adoption into God’s eternal family. You were given the right and privilege to call God Father or literally “daddy” The first word a newly born infant utters is “Abba daddy” it conveys a total dependency on its father and the beginning of a brand new relationship with its father.  The Old Testament saints did not have this concept revealed to them fully. It was the Lord Jesus who revealed this truth to Abraham’s descendants.

Life and godliness

All through the New Testament believers call God father. The Lord Jesus encouraged us to pray to our father in Heaven. Even Abraham did not call Him father as we do as Abraham’s spiritual descendants. “Abba daddy” is an expression of sonship. In the blood covenant God made with Abraham everything God had now became available to his covenant partner. Likewise, as a believer all that Jesus has becomes available to you. Already you have His righteousness, holiness, sanctification and redemption and all things are yours in Him. In Him and through His divine power God has given us everything we will ever need for life and godliness through our knowledge of His Son. (2 Peter 1:3)

As He is in this world

In the Messiah you are also a partaker of His love, His power, His faith, His health, His wealth, and His wholeness of body, mind and spirit and He wants to manifest these things through you to others who need the salvation He provides. Of course we will not come into the fullness of these things until the rapture and resurrection. (1 John 3:2) However, as we allow the Spirit of God to change us to be more like the Lord Jesus then we will have the faith and confidence to be able to say and to do as He did when he was in the world. As the apostle john says; “As He is so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:17) In this world the Lord Jesus walked in the love of God and it controlled everything He did as He was led by the Holy Spirit moment by moment.

In the power of the Spirit

Now God wants to do through you as a believer what He did through the Lord Jesus and we must keep in mind that everything He did He did in the power of God’s love through the Holy Spirit.  His motives were pure and undefiled. What did the Lord Jesus do? Peter tells us in the Book of Acts what the Lord Jesus did. “…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”  (Acts 10:38)  As scripture also says also tells us about the Lord Jesus; “The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” (Luke 4:18-19)

Having been with Jesus

God’s Word says that as a member of the Body of the Lord Jesus individually and corporately as well, we are to always speak the truth in love and to grow up into the likeness of the Messiah in every way who is the head of His Body, the faithful Assembly. (Ephesians 4:15) The way we can do this is to start speaking and acting like Him. After all we have been called and predestined to be conformed to his image. (Romans 8:29) One of the distinguishing marks of the disciples and the followers of the Lord Jesus in the first century was that they were just like the Lord Jesus and those who observed this saw it. We read about the unsaved religious leaders reacting to Peter and John where; “they took note of them that they had been with Jesus.” Peter and John were so empowered by the Spirit when preaching about the Lord Jesus that the religious leaders not only recognized them as Jesus’ followers but that they were looking, speaking and acting just like Him and added to this you had a man who had been completely crippled from birth leaping and walking and praising God in the Temple! (Acts 3:1-10; 4:12-14)  As they say “the proof was in the pudding!”

Spiritually hatching

  1. If it wasn’t bad enough for these religious leaders to have to deal with the Lord Jesus they now had a bigger problem on their hands as the Lord Jesus had not only been resurrected but was now at work in His followers, by the holy Spirit, and they were spiritually ‘hatching’ every day in Jerusalem. The Lord Jesus said that you and I as believers could do the things He did. As He said himself; “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:12-14)

His power poured out

The Lord Jesus has taken the same Holy Spirit that God had anointed Him with power and has poured that same power of the Holy Spirit upon His Body, the faithful Assembly. (Acts 2:33) This occurred on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:1-4) The Lord Jesus is able to duplicate Himself through His followers who when filled with the Holy Spirit will be speaking and acting just like Him. The blessed Holy Spirit will always point to the Lord Jesus, not to himself or His gifts or to those experiencing His gifts. As a believer and a covenant partner with God you can draw out from the Lord Jesus His power over sin, temptation, demons, sickness and disease, which He has made available to you. (Luke 24:49) (Acts 1:8; 2:4, 39)

ii) You are the righteousness of God:

(Romans 4:2-8) “For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”

Without any sense of guilt

As God’s adopted son or daughter you have the privilege to stand in the presence of God at any time of the day or night without any sense of guilt or inferiority. Of course if you have cherished unconfessed, un-renounced sin in your heart then God will not hear your prayers until you confess and forsake that sin. (Psalm 66:18) When you confess it and draw on the strength of the Holy Spirit to renounce it is when you get rid of it. (1 John 1:9) If we are living by the same kind of faith that Abraham had then like Abraham we will not stand condemned before God. God will accept us as if we had never sinned at all. As God’s blood brought, blood washed child you are His covenant partner with a right to use the name of His Son and to have access to all that He has. You are accepted in the beloved Jesus. (Ephesians 1:6)

Boldness with confidence

As God’s child and covenant partner He wants you and expects you to come boldly into His presence, not come like a whipped dog. We are speaking about boldness and confidence, not brashness and presumption. Moses had the right kind of confidence before God because he understood the rights and privileges of being in a blood covenant agreement with God. When God was about to destroy Israel because of their wantonness and worship of the Golden Calf Moses stood in God’s presence and said boldly but with reverence “no you’re not remember your covenant!” and we are told God relented and did not destroy the people. Likewise when David the shepherd boy heard the boasts of Goliath he called this giant “an uncircumcised Philistine.” David knew he had a covenant with God and stood on it and took out the giant! Moses and David knew their covenant birthright and the privileges’ and promises that went with it. When they spoke the word of God by faith God went into action!

Your spiritual birthright

As a believer then you have the spiritual birthright to come into the very throne room of God Himself and know He will receive you because of the intercession of our High Priest the Lord Jesus sitting at God’s right hand and always living to intercede for us.  (Hebrews 7:25) When you release God’s Word into a situation through speaking it your faith will release its power. Of course it is not faith in your faith but faith in God’s Word. God’s Word is the ammunition in the breech of the spiritual weapon and your words are the trigger! The Lord Jesus is always watching over His covenant promises to perform them on behalf of those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. As it is written; “For the eyes of the LORD roam throughout the earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is fully devoted to Him.”  (2 Chronicles 16:9) So then we have a great High Priest in the Lord Jesus who wants us to come boldly and with confidence in to his presence.

Our Great High Priest

As the author of Hebrews writes; “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, so that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:14-16)

iii) You are a corporate member of His Body, the faithful Assembly:

(Ephesians 1:17-23)  “…that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality  and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.  And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the Assembly (church), which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”

(Ephesians 2:4-6) “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

Under His feet and ours

God has placed everything under the feet of the Lord Jesus whether it is sin, demons, temptation, sickness, disease, poverty, death and every name that can be named in heaven, on the earth, or under the earth, whether rulers, authorities, principalities and powers of darkness of this world and the spiritual hosts of wickedness in high places, they are all under His feet and ours because we are His Body He is Lord over all of these things as He sits at the Father’s right hand and upholds all things by His powerful Word. (Hebrews 1:3) This is the authority God has invested in the name of Jesus!

A kingdom of priests

As a believer in the Lord Jesus you are part of a Kingdom of Priests. (Revelation 1:6) You have the spiritual birthright and privilege of coming into the very throne room of God and requesting from Him the things He has promised to do in His word the Bible .God is bound to do what He has promised because of the blood covenant cut with the Lord Jesus at the cross and for the sake of Abraham’s descendants, all who walk in the faith that Abraham had. As a believer you are a child of Abraham, the father of faith and of all who believe. Your faith will drive the devil out of your affairs if you resist him. (James 4: 7)  Resistance takes time and perseverance. Sometimes the devil will persist in his temptations and afflictions and we must weather the spiritual storm by holding up the shield of faith and by wielding the sword of the Spirit being the Word of God, against him. If we keep resisting he will leave!

Satan must leave

If you have submitted your life to the Lord Jesus then Satan must leave, he has no choice in the matter because even his name is under your feet and must give way to the authority and power that God has invested in Jesus’ name. This is your spiritual birthright and authority you have in the name of Jesus and because you have a covenant with God sealed in the blood of the Lord Jesus. Satan hates the blood of the Messiah. This is why witches covens, warlocks and those into satanic rites drink blood and mock the cross.

Sitting together with the Messiah

  1. Added to all of this as a believer you have been raised up with the Messiah to also sit together with Him in the heavenly places. All things are under His feet and under yours as well because you are a corporate member of his body. As you meet the needs of others God will meet every need you have. (Philippians 4:19) If you have a specific need then as God’s covenant partner you can go to His Word and find a promise that covers your situation and lay hold of the promise. As the Lord Jesus said; “Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

Bound by blood

God is bound by the blood covenant and to His oath to answer it. Sometimes He will answer straight away but at other times He does not answer straight away but requires faith and patience on our behalf that will ultimately lead us to inherit the promises. (Hebrews 6:12) Our faith is the key. (Hebrews 11:6) (Mark 11:24) It is a faith of obedience and faithfulness. (Romans 1:5; 16:26) In both Testaments the word for faith not only stands for what one believes buy also stands for faithfulness. Abraham was faithful and there were waiting periods in his faith journey with the LORD. Be assured that if God promises to do something in His Word then He will surely perform it because He always watches over His Word to perform it. (Jeremiah 1:12) Don’t be discouraged and never give up for you will reap in due season if you do not faint. (Galatians 6:9) So then what God’s Word says you are and can do that is what you are and can do no matter what the devil tells you otherwise.  “God’s grace is sufficient in all things and you can do all things through Him who strengthens you as God’s covenant partner. (Philippians 4:13)

iv) You have the name of Jesus and His authority to use it:

(Mark 16:17-20) “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen”

The Name of Jesus

The name of the Lord Jesus can do anything He can do because His name is above every name. As Paul writes; “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11) Sin is a name, temptation is a name, Satan is a name, demonic oppression and possession is a name, sickness and poverty are names, marriage disharmony is a name, fear and anxiety are names, unbelief is a name. His name is above every name in all three realms of existence. Every name that can be named, that can come against you and me as believers, is subject to the name of Jesus. The Lord Jesus Himself is the Living and active Word of God. (John 1:1-2) (Revelation 19:13)  When you speak the name of Jesus you have just spoken the whole Word of God in one word.

His will and testament

Multitudes of believers do not realise the spiritual power and authority they have when reading or even carrying their Bible around. The Bible is the Lord Jesus in print and it is all about Him and a revelation of Him and a blood covenant book! God has shed the blood of His one and only begotten Son to seal the Word of God forever! The Bible is the Word of the Lord Jesus for you and for the whole Body of the Messiah. It is His will or covenant (testament) He shed his blood to ratify it and rose again to probate His own will!

In line with his word

When you or I use the name of Jesus in faith and according to God’s Word, God will move on our behalf. If you know something is God’s will for you to do or to have then the name of Jesus and by faith in him and in the authority of that name will bring you the results you have desired. God always answers prayers in-line with his promises. (1 John 5:14-15) When you use the name of Jesus in the Biblical way God will move on your behalf. Many believers do not know their bibles that well and so they do not know what their covenant rights and privileges are in the Messiah. Faith in the name of Jesus will release God’s power into any situation for what is impossible with man is possible with God because all things are possible with Him and for those who believe! (Matthew 9:26) (Mark 9:23)

Faith in the name of Jesus

The Apostle peter understood the power God had invested in the name of Jesus when confronted with the man who had been crippled from birth. “Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength…” And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.” (Acts 3:6-7, 16)

No silver or gold

It is interesting that Peter and John did not have silver or gold but they had God’s power. Many today who have the silver and the gold and are trying to perform miracles in Jesus name do not have the real and genuine power. The Television and the internet are infested with those into miracles, signs and wonders and into silver and gold! Bogus miracles and healings are common place today within wider Christendom. The tale is told that in or about the year 1210 Francis of Assisi had an audience with Pope Innocent III. During the course of their meeting the Pope showed Francis some of the great wealth of the Vatican. The Pope boasted, “We can no longer say with Peter ‘silver and gold have I none’.” To which Francis replied, “Neither can you say ‘rise and walk’.”

vi) You have God’s spiritual armour and weapons:

(Ephesians 6:10-18) “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

(2 Corinthians 10:3-5) “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

Spiritual authority and power

When you made the Lord Jesus your saviour and Lord and became his bond-slave through repentance and faith you were enlisted into the LORD’s army. Through the blood covenant you became God’s covenant partner and His friend and son or daughter in the Messiah and accepted in the beloved Jesus. The blessed Holy Spirit came to live down on the inside of you and made available to you spiritual armour and weapons you need to fight against the world, the flesh and the devil and to bring down Satan’s spiritual stronghold’s in your own life and in the lives of others including your family members. It is one thing to be spiritually reborn by the Spirit and that happened when you made Jesus Lord. However, to release these spiritual weapons you need to be baptised, filled, empowered and endued with power from on high through the blessed Holy Spirit. It is the filling with the Spirit that will release in you the spiritual weapons and armour you have within your spirit. On the day of Pentecost this is precisely what happened to the 120 in the upper Room. They were already born again saved men and women but without the power to witness and to work for God. After the Holy Spirit’s power had fallen upon them they had the spiritual armour and weapons released in and through their lives and the rest is history. When they were filled with the Holy Spirit the faith they had in God’s Word and in their hearts was released and the trigger that released it was their tongue. They had received power to be witnesses for the Lord Jesus and the salvation He brings. (Acts 1:8) (Luke 24:49) (Acts 2; 4)

Our spiritual weapons

Our spiritual weapons are the blood of Jesus, the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, the name of Jesus and the word of our testimony. With the armour of God on and with the shield of faith held high and with the sword of the Spirit coming out of your mouth you can run the devil out of your affairs, you can run him off! (James 4:7)  You can resist him to the point where he just has to leave. The problem we all face at times is that we do not persist to resist and give up and loose the spiritual victory that is rightfully ours in the Messiah our Lord Jesus. As a believer you can resist whatever Satan throws your way with the faith that resides in your spirit and governs your mind. You have within your spirit world overcoming faith and in the Messiah your spiritual enemies are under his feet and under yours as well because you are in his Body the faithful assembly (Church) John writes: “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 John 5:4-5) It has been said “that fear knocked at the door and faith answered and there was no one there!”

Demolishing spiritual strongholds

Now you may have a stronghold in your life and it is a spiritual stronghold in your life that you want to demolish and it may be fear, anxiety about the future, debt, sickness, a besetting sin, severe temptation or some unfavourable circumstance that is getting to you and hindering  your  righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit. Well you can speak God’s Word that covers that circumstance into the situation you are facing and if you do not doubt in your heart eventually it will have to give way. You can speak God’s Word to that mountain of impossibly and if you do not doubt in your heart but believe you have already received it eventually it will be removed. The only hindrance to this happening will be if you are harbouring a grudge or un-forgiveness.  (Mark11:22-25)

Wrong choices put right

Having said this there will be situations and circumstances we face at times in life which are a result of our wrong choices or due to unconfessed, un-renounced sin and until these things are put right with God through repentance our confession of faith will not work for us. Unbelief is also another hindrance to our faith or when we ask amiss or ask to satisfy some desire of the flesh. (James 4:3)  If you have been spiritually reborn from above by the blessed Holy Spirit then all of the fullness of the Lord Jesus’ life dwells in your spirit. As Paul writes; “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:9-10) His life is an indestructible life! (Hebrews 7:16)

Conclusion:

You have a blood covenant with God and you are His covenant partner and the Lord Jesus is not only your saviour, Lord and high Priest but your older brother. You are family! Whoever comes against you comes against Him. I remember years ago when I was a young boy a kid picked on me and he was too strong for me and I was sacred, so I called out my brother to deal with him because my brother, having done judo, could more than handle the situation which he did. I was most relieved!

Grappling with fear

With God in us and for s and with us what do we really need to be fearful of? All of us at times have to grapple with fear, even Paul at times had to grapple with it because we are human and we have the world, the flesh and the devil to deal with every day and sometimes his attacks are ruthless and relentless and fear is one of his best weapons to use against us. You see fear and faith are opposites. Faith in the Lord Jesus and his Word perfected by love drives out fear. (1 John 4:18) Sometimes fear is there because we have done something we should not have done because fear is attached to judgement but when we confess our sin is when we get rid of it and after that fear must be replaced with faith.

His unlimited resources

As God’s covenant partner, His unlimited resources both in the spiritual and natural realm are yours, they are at your disposal because God not only cares for your spiritual needs but your physical and temporal needs as well. (Matthew 6:25-34). All things are possible to those who believe. (Mark 9:23) The Lord Jesus also says; “according to your faith will it be done to you.” (Matthew 9:29) God has bequeathed an inheritance to you as a believer in and because of what the Lord Jesus accomplished for you at the cross when He disarmed Satan and his minions from Hades that you might be loosed and set free from his power over your life. The blood of the Messiah settled everything spiritually speaking and by faith you can rise up and claim your inheritance as it is set out in the Word of God. It has been sealed in a blood covenant. The word testament can also be translated as covenant. When we confess with our mouth what the Bible says the blood of Jesus does for us we will drive the devil out of our affairs and the affairs of others who need spiritual deliverance. Through faith in the power of the blood and by our testimony to that fact we can defeat Satan at every turn. (Revelation 12:11)

Others need our faith

Your faith will not only drive out the devil from your life and circumstances but from your family and friends lives and circumstances as well. Others need your faith so begin to claim your inheritance in the Messiah and start to use it for the benefit of others. Abraham believed God’s Word but only when he acted upon it did the promises become a reality for him. The anchor for his soul was the blood of the covenant. When he stepped out by faith in the blood covenant God acted!

Hunting for the promises

When you read the Bible also hunt for promises. Discover who you are in the Messiah and start acting like it by faith! Begin to demolish spiritual strongholds, cast down imaginations and every high thing that exults itself against the knowledge of God in you and start by bringing all of your thoughts into obedience to the Lord Jesus and you do this when you obey what He has asked you to say and to do in his Word, the Bible. As the Lord Jesus said; “If you love Me keep My commandments!” If God is for you who can successfully stand against you? As Isaiah writes; “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you…no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from Me,” declares the Lord.”(Isaiah 54:10, 17)

Biblical prosperity

God wants to prosper you in every way to establish His blood covenant in the earth and not to make you rich and to live in the lap of luxury and to have it good in this world as some are teaching today with their prosperity, hyper faith theology. If God does prosper you financially it is for the sake of supporting the preaching of the gospel and He affirms this himself. The LORD says; “…You may say in your heart, “The power and the strength of my hand has made this wealth for me.” But remember that it is the LORD your God who gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm His covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:17-18)  The late Derek Prince one said “According to the Bible to prosper is to have successfully completed the will of God for your life.” Whatever you need for life and godliness God will give it to you. Everything God has promised to do for you and with you and through you in His Word is His will for you and you need to lay hold of His promises by faith as your father Abraham did because blood has been shed to confirm them. The blood covenant settled his mind and his heart and kept his faith on course. God’s Word is His will and He always watches over His Word to perform it. (Jeremiah 1:12)

Making room for God’s sovereignty

Victory over sin and temptation, righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit, health and wellbeing and financial sufficiency in all things are all yours in the Messiah but in all of these matters as believers we all still need to make room for the sovereignty of God. Derek Prince also said; “God does what He wants, when He wants and in the way He wants and asks no man’s permission. Can you make room for the sovereignty of God?”

A respecter of faith

Having said this God is no respecter of persons but He is a respecter of faith and when you exercise your faith in Him  and stand on His Word no matter what you are facing He is not only pleased but will reward you and that in abundance according to His good, acceptable and perfect will. Yours and my part of the covenant is to yield the whole of our lives, our time, our talents, our finances unreservedly to Him. (Hebrews 11:6) (Romans 12:1-2) As your covenant partner He will reciprocate and bring about such a blessing that there will be hardly any room to contain it! This is your heritage and inheritance from Him and the basis of this blessing is the blood covenant!
