Peace when there is No Peace?

“Peace, peace,” when there is no peace. (Jeremiah 6:14)

In yesterday’s online edition of USA TODAY it featured an article focusing on the historic peace accord Israel signed with United Arab Emirates and Bahrain at White House ceremony. According to the report it stated; “WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump heralded a pair of historic agreements formalizing diplomatic relations between Israel and two Gulf Arab nations in a ceremony Tuesday on the White House South Lawn. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed the accords – written in English, Hebrew and Arabic – marking a major geopolitical shift in the Middle East and giving Trump a platform as peacemaker as he heads into the fall reflection campaign. “We’re here this afternoon to change the course of history,” Trump said at the beginning of the ceremony. “Together these agreements will serve as the foundation for a comprehensive peace across the entire region.”

Netanyahu called the agreements “a pivot of history” that “heralds a new dawn of peace… Netanyahu and Trump both predicted that other Arab countries would soon follow Bahrain and the UAE in normalizing relations with Israel. Under the agreements, Trump said, Israel, the UAE and Bahrain will establish embassies, exchange ambassadors and cooperate on a broad range of issues, from trade to health care to security. “They’re going to work together. They are friends,” he said. “There will be other countries very soon that will follow these great leaders.”

In the euphoria of this historic event can we say there will there be a lasting peace? Will the Arab nations now signing a peace accord with Israel stand with Israel when the nation is attacked in the future as the Hebrew prophets Daniel, Ezekiel and Zechariah have predicted?  We are told in the prophets Ezekiel and Daniel that there will be an invasion of Israel from the King of the North (Ezekiel 38:6, 15) (Daniel 11:41) Ezekiel actually names the nations that will attack Israel. The chief nation leading the invasion will be Turkey supported by Iran, the Sudan and Libya and many nations with them. (Ezekiel 38:1-6) It will be an Islamic invasion but possibly other non-Islamic nations will join the invasion force.

When you consider the Turkic speaking southern states located in the former Soviet Union, being, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, these Islamic states would automatically join the invasion force. Russia itself most likely will not join this vast Islamic army. Gog is the Antichrist and the chief prince of Magog, Meshech, Gomer, Togaramah and Tubal. When one consults a wide range of conservative Bible Atlases they all confirm the identification of Turkey as Magog, the home of Gog, the Antichrist and show Meshech, Gomer, Togaramah and Tubal all located in modern day Turkey.

Now in Ezekiel chapter 38 there are other nations mentioned that just look on and do nothing. Ezekiel writes; “Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish with all its villages (young lions) will say to you (that is to Gog the chief prince of the coalition attacking Israel), ‘Have you come to capture spoil? Have you assembled your company to seize plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to capture great spoil?” (Ezekiel 38:13)

There is Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and the villages or young lions associated with Tarshish. Sheba today would be Yemen located in the Saudi Arabian Peninsula, Dedan today would be located in Saudi Arabia also known as Edom. The geographical region of Edom sweeps from Southern Jordan down into the Saudi Arabian Peninsula, the home of the Islamic world. (Ezekiel 25:12-13) Tarshish today would most likely be located on the coast of Spain on the Mediterranean Sea. In the Old Testament times Tarshish was a seaport because of its trade via the sea. Ezekiel also mentions “the villages” or “the strong lions.” Possibly these ‘villages’ or’ ‘lions’ would be some of the European nations that look on but do nothing as well when the Islamic King of the North invades Israel.

Right now the UAE and Bahrain have sided with Israel only because of the threat of Iran. The Saudis are waiting in the wings to see what happens with the ‘Palestinian’ Arabs living in Northern, Central and Southern Jordan and in Gaza. Hamas and Hezbollah will never approve of any peace treaty made between Israel and the Arab nations located in the Saudi Arabian Peninsula. When Israel is attacked according to Ezekiel the Arab nations, supposedly supporting Israel will draw back leaving Israel alone. However, God will not let the Arab nations in the Saudi Arabian Peninsula get away with abandoning His people Israel to their enemies.

To the fundamentalist Islamic mindset Saudi Arabia and the other Arab states that trade and deal with the western nations are seen by the Islamic fundamentalists as the harlot of Islam. Turkey and Iran for starters do not approve of any peace accord made with Israel and the Arab nations. As for the Palestinian Arabs in Gaza they launched rockets into Southern Israel while the peace accord was being signed on Tuesday. As for Iran it already has Saudi Arabia marked for a missile strike and the Saudis know it and are scared!

The main city representing the Islamic world globally today is Mecca with its religious roots going all the way back to the Babylon of Nimrod. Edom we are told will be decimated by fire most likely by Iranian missiles. The Oil reserves under the desert in Saudi Arabia will burn out of control making the region uninhabitable by humans because of the smoke of its burning. (Isaiah 34:8-10) (Revelation 18:15-19) We are told that the destruction of Edom is heard at the Red Sea.

As Jeremiah writes; “Therefore hear the plan that the Lord has made against Edom and the purposes that he has formed against the inhabitants of Teman: Even the little ones of the flock shall be dragged away. Surely their fold shall be appalled at their fate. At the sound of their fall the earth shall tremble; the sound of their cry shall be heard at the Red Sea.” (Jeremiah 49:20-21)

It may well be that other Arab nations located in the Saudi Arabian Peninsula will eventually join the Arab alliance with Israel but in the end they will all betray Israel as they see the invasion coming from the North. When will Israel learn that the only covenant they need is the one cut for them in the blood of the Messiah and that God is all they need as a nation.

As God says to Israel; “Woe to the rebellious children,” declares the LORD, “to those who carry out a plan that is not Mine, who form an alliance, but against My will, heaping up sin upon sin. They set out to go down to Egypt without asking My advice, to seek shelter under Pharaoh’s protection and take refuge in Egypt’s shade.” (Isaiah 30:1-2)

Egypt metaphorically in the Bible represents the world. The invasion of Israel from the far North is coming. If you draw a straight line running true north from Jerusalem it intersects with Ankara, not Moscow! When the dust of the last battle settles and the Messiah is victorious Islam will have been eliminated. The armies of the nations and their leaders that have attacked Israel, rebelled against the Lord and divided up the land of Israel, will all go down into the pit of hell in wholesale lots. They are specifically named and are all Islamic nations today. (Ezekiel 32:18-32)

When the Messiah has come back and established the Millennial Kingdom on earth the prophet Zechariah tells us that in that day; “The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and His name the only name.” (Zechariah 14:9) How then can they say “Peace when there is no peace?” Only true and lasting peace will be established on earth when the Messiah our Lord Jesus, the Prince of Peace, reigns in Jerusalem and we are told in the prophet Isaiah that His reign will be glorious! (Isaiah 24:23)
