A Collapse?
In the latest edition of Israel Today a headline read; “Netanyahu Government Dangerously Close to Collapse.” According to the report the big news of the day in Israel on Sunday was how dangerously close Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is to collapse. According to some sources within the coalition, Israel might have early elections as soon as June of this year. The issue at hand is passing the national budget, which the ultra-Orthodox parties in Netanyahu’s coalition are refusing to support unless the prime minister first pushes through legislation exempting Jewish seminary students from serving in the IDF.
Staying alert and united
In a time of war the last thing an army wants is to have division and dissension among its leaders when facing a common enemy. What the Lord Jesus said was true that “a house divided against itself cannot stand.” There is no doubt that Satan and the principality over Iran are looking very intently at the situation in Israel. It may well be that if Prime Minister Netanyahu is removed from office that it will weaken Israel’s unity and during the unrest it may see Iranian missiles coming over the Syrian Border to hit Israeli towns and cities. Now is not the time for a leadership change. This disruption at the highest level of the Israeli government may create the situation Iran needs to start a war. Israel must stay alert and united. A division at this time could be a ‘chink in the armour’ that the enemy’s arrows (missiles) will target.
Four things to keep in mind
Firstly; when you look at the history of Israel when the people of God walked with God He defeated their enemies before them, however when they disobeyed his laws and chased after other ‘gods’ he raised up their enemies against them, not to destroy them but to bring them back to Himself and to trust only in Him. Once His people had turned back to Him He got rid of their enemies quick smart.
Secondly; Even though Israel by enlarge is in unbelief and the land is filled with idolatry, hedonism, sodomy, false Judaism and even the persecution of Jewish Messianic believers the Messiah our Lord Jesus, because of the New Covenant made with the people of Israel He is going to fight against that principality over Iran with Michael supporting Him in the battle. (Daniel 10:12-14, 20) Many will see the hand of their Messiah when Iran is defeated. God’s ultimate purpose is to bring ‘Joseph’s brothers to the feet of their brother Joseph.’ A reunion is ahead for the remnant of Jesus’ unbelieving Jewish brothers and sisters with their older brother and Messiah our Lord Jesus whom they have rejected.
Thirdly; God must have a Holy people. Only through applied pressure and through affliction and tribulation can this happen in order to drive the people of Israel to see the blood of their Messiah sprinkled on the mercy seat for their sins at the cross. The prophet Ezekiel wrote that the Israelites (This is their real Biblical name) would be gathered back into the land in the last days in unbelief (Ezekiel 37:1-8) and that after they were back in the land they would be spiritually revived. (Ezekiel 37:9-10)
Fourthly; God will bring about the nations repentance and turning to their Messiah our Lord Jesus through the Time of Jacob’s Trouble but save the nation out of it. (Jeremiah 30:1-7) It will not be for their sakes that the LORD will save them as a nation and bring them to faith in the Messiah our Lord Jesus, but for the sake of His name and because of the shed blood of the New Covenant made with the House of Israel and with the House Judah. (Ezekiel 36:22-23) (Jeremiah 31:31) He is a covenant keeping God. As I have often quoted the late David Wilkerson who used to say; “God still has everything under control!”
I am glad He does aren’t you?
