Will history repeat itself?
Earlier this week, I spent some time looking at a two hour documentary on the Six-Day War that occurred in June 1967 when Israel fought a war against impossible odds and in a first strike regained a lot of territory in Israel including East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. As I watched this documentary I felt that history is going to repeat itself possibly this year being the 70th Anniversary of the rebirth of Israel in 1948. In the 1967 Six-Day War the aggressors that had gathered to attack Israel were Egypt, Syria and the Jordanian Arabs. They joined forces against Israel seeking to wipe them off of the map.
“They form a confederacy aginst You”
Once again I was drawn to Psalm 83 where the psalmist was speaking to the LORD concerning His enemies and those of His people Israel; “For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You.” (Psalm 83:2-5)
They are all Islamic
The psalmist goes on to mention these nations by name and they are all Islamic today and once again gathering together to form a confederacy and conspiracy against Israel and against the God of Israel. Psalm 83:6-8 actually lists the nations involved. There are the Arabs of Saudi Arabia and the displaced Palestinian Arabs living in Northern, Central and Southern Jordan. Egypt is also mentioned as well as Northern and southern Lebanon the home of Hezbollah and then there is the Negev and Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip the home of Hamas, and Syria and Northern Iraq. Right now the ‘hot spot’ for Israel is on their Northern border that separates Israel from Syria. It has already been established that Iran has missile silos in Syria with their missiles aimed at Israel.
A pre-emptive first strike!
As I watched the documentary on the Six-Day war it was revealed that once Israel had irrefutable evidence that Egypt, the Jordanian Arabs and the Syrians were planning an all-out attack on Israel that the Israelis made a pre-emptive first strike. This first strike saw Israel take out Egypt’s Air force and ground troops, capturing the Gaza Strip and taking the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, capturing the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount from Jordan, and taking the Golan Heights from Syria much to the chagrin of the whole Arab and Islamic world and most of the international community if the truth be known. Both Egypt and Syria lost their armies and Air force in that Six-Day War in June 1967. It was miraculous to say the least because God was fighting for Israel! Today the same Islamic nations are gathering again to form a confederacy against Israel. What they will find is that they are not only fighting Israel but God Himself.
Iran in Syria
As I watched this documentary I could not help but think that history will repeat itself and possibly this year. It would not surprise me at all that once Israel has irrefutable proof that Iran and Syria are planning an all-out war with the Israelis that Israel will once again make a pre-emptive first strike taking out any missile silos established in Syria, taking out Damascus and turning that city into a ruinous heap, (Isaiah 17:1) and taking out the Bushehr Nuclear Power plant in Iran that would result in a devastating catastrophe for the Iranian regime with terrible collateral damage. According to today’s report in the Times Online Publication it stated; “Israeli military intelligence and satellite technology have identified at least ten Iranian military bases in Syria as the threat of war between the two rises.The bases are home to tens of thousands of troops from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which conducts overseas operations, as well as missiles and transfer facilities for supporting Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based Shia militia.”
A Great War
Daniel’s vision that was revealed to him from the LORD concerned “a great war” in the latter days. (Daniel 10:1, 14) The Messiah, (Daniel 10:5-11) and Michael the archangel of war and Israel’s protector, (Daniel 12:1) will take the fight to Iran and win! (Daniel 10:20) (Jeremiah 49:35-37) Hassan Rouhani may have ‘a smile on his dial’ now when contemplating Israel’s imminent demise but what Rouhani and his henchmen do not realise is that when denigrating and cursing Israel they are cursing and denigrating God. It is no joking matter with God, who in fact will have the last laugh, but it will be at Iran’s expense! (Psalm 2:4) As for ‘the face’ off between Israel and Iran it may well be that the Israelis will make the first strike!
