(Deuteronomy 32:8-9) “When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when He divided all mankind, He set up boundaries for the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. For the Lord’s portion is His people, Jacob His allotted inheritance.”
Who really owns the Land of Israel? God does! Once again “Israel Bashing” has reared its ugly head and this time with Amnesty International “howling for Jewish blood” to be honest! On the Honest Reporting Website it states…
“Amnesty International on Tuesday released a report that charges Israel with maintaining a “cruel system of apartheid” since the country’s creation in 1948. The London-based NGO accused Israeli governments of striving for over seven decades to establish “Jewish domination and control over specific areas of strategic importance,” while treating Palestinians and Israeli Arabs as “inferior non-Jewish racial groups.” The 280-page document titled, “Israel’s Apartheid Against Palestinians. Cruel System of Domination and Crime Against Humanity,” concludes with a call to “dismantle” what Amnesty refers to as Jerusalem’s “system of oppression and domination,” and to allow millions of descendants of Palestinian refugees to “return” to Israel, a recipe for ending Jewish self-determination. While Amnesty’s allegations generated widespread media coverage, this self-proclaimed “global movement for human rights” has essentially recycled patently false claims.”
Whether it is the European Union, the United Nations and other Global political leaders calling for the ‘dismemberment’ of Israel as a sovereign nation in its own right and the homeland of the Jewish people, it is in realty an attack against the sovereignty of God Himself. We are told in God’s Word that “From one man (Adam) He (God) made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands” (Acts 17: 26). So we see that God owns the whole world and from the creation of man God determined where people should live and the boundaries of their lands.
God owns the land of Israel! He calls it Israel. When the Lord Jesus walked this earth He called the land Israel. The prophets and apostles called the land Israel. In fact from Genesis to Revelation in the Bible the Holy land is called Israel, not Palestine, a name invented by the Romans!
Let’s consider the facts from God’s perspective concerning the Land of Israel…
#1.God gave the land of Israel as an inheritance to the people of Israel called Israelites to be for them “an everlasting possession.” (Genesis 17:8).
#2.God sealed this covenant through cutting a blood covenant with Abraham the father of the Jewish nation and set the boundaries of the Land they were to possess (Genesis 15: 17-19). He gave them every bit of real estate that lies between the Wadi of Egypt to the River Euphrates. This land included the Golan Heights, the West bank, Gaza, Lebanon and a part of Syria up to the boundary of the Euphrates River.
#3.God gave the land to the physical descendants of Isaac and not to Ishmael and his descendants being the Arab nations. The everlasting covenant being the one procured for all time was the one cut when the Messiah shed His blood to redeem Israel from their sins (Luke 22:20). This New Covenant was made with the House of Israel and with the House of Judah. Gentile New Covenant believers are spiritually grafted into Israel and are partakers of the covenant blessings (Jeremiah 31:31-34). The Lord Jesus was Jewish and a direct physical descendent of the Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to whom God gave the land of Israel (Genesis 17:17-22).
#4.God gave the nation its name through the Patriarch Jacob after Jacob has wrestled with the pre-incarnate Messiah our Lord Jesus before He became flesh and tabernacled among us (Genesis 32:28).
#5.God once again resurrected and established the nation of Israel in 1948 after almost 2,000 years of exile from the land. The nation was reborn in a day! (Isaiah 66:8).
#6.God chose and set apart the nation of Israel to be His exclusive possession out from among all the peoples of the earth. He wanted a nation free from idolatry and chose Abraham to be the father of this nation and also decreed that those who blessed him and his descendants would themselves be blessed and that those who cursed him and his descendent would themselves be cursed. Any nation or organization or anyone for that matter that curses Israel will be cursed. (Deuteronomy 7:6) (Genesis 12:1-3).
#7.God sent Israel into exile because of its disobedience in 70AD after the conquest of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple. However, God was not finished with Israel as they were still being moulded like clay in the hands of the master potter (Jeremiah 18:1-6).
#8. God promised to restore Israel nationally and spiritually. In 1948 the nation was restored and the people returned to the land (Ezekiel 27:1-8). Their spiritual restoration is still in the future at the end of this present age (Ezekiel 37:9-28) (Zechariah 12:10-14; 13:1). They have yet to pass through the Time of Jacob’s Trouble but will be saved out of it at the end (Jeremiah 30: 1-10).
While we see Israel establishing relationships with many Gentile nations including some of the Arab States, the time will come when the nations will turn against Israel and Jerusalem will be in the centre spotlight of world events. We read what God says through the prophet Zechariah.
“Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured.
And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it. In that day,” declares the Lord, “I will strike every horse with bewilderment and his rider with madness. But I will watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through the Lord of hosts, their God.’
“In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again dwell on their own sites in Jerusalem” (Zechariah 12:2-6).
The “Israel bashing” will increase in these last days and a further tragedy is to see the woeful doctrine of replacement theology spreading through wider Christendom like gangrene. Added to this even among Evangelical churches replacement theology is on the rise. If you are a born again, Bible loving, blood washed, Spirit-filled New Covenant believer who recognises you have been spiritually grafted into the Commonwealth of Israel, you will not be able to even countenance replacement theology or the tag line that says; “God has finished with the Jews!”
If you do not love Israel you do not love the Lord Jesus because He is Jewish and the Jews are His physical descendants. Let’s all remember that salvation is of the Jews, not of the Arabs or of any other nation on earth for that matter! (John 4:22b). God remembers his covenants with Israel!
As the Psalmist writes; “He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations, The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac. Then He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant” (Psalm 105:8-10). If God cannot be depended upon to keep His covenant promises to Israel then how can He be depended on to keep His promises to the Church?
If you understand the sacredness and permanency of a blood covenant cut by God with man then you will not discard Israel. You cannot love the Lord Jesus while not loving His brethren in the flesh! Satan is all out to destroy Israel because He knows that the Second Coming of the Messiah our Lord Jesus humanly speaking depends on the survival of Israel as a nation. However, this destruction of Israel will never happen. Satan experienced his first defeat at Jerusalem and will also experience his last defeat there as well! To take sides against Israel is to in fact take sides with the devil! The Lord Jesus is the King of the Jews and God has promised to have a king sitting on the throne of Israel during the Messianic age to come on earth at Jerusalem and a reign that will continue into all of eternity in the New Jerusalem.
Has God forgotten his ancient people? Are they still the inheritors of the Land of Israel owned by God? Will God ever go back on His New Covenant established forever by the atoning blood of the Messiah our Lord Jesus? This is what God says concerning Israel…
“Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun for light by day And the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar; The Lord of hosts is His name: “If this fixed order departs From before Me,” declares the Lord, “Then the offspring of Israel also will cease From being a nation before Me forever.” Thus says the Lord, “If the heavens above can be measured And the foundations of the earth searched out below, Then I will also cast off all the offspring of Israel For all that they have done,” declares the Lord” (Jeremiah 31:35-37).
Those who seek to argue against the establishment of Israel as a nation argue against God! He has bequeathed the Land of Israel to the Jewish people by His sovereign will and foreknown purposes. For all New Covenant believing Gentiles spiritually grafted into Israel they are also partakers of the blessings of the New and Everlasting Covenant cut in the blood of the Messiah with the House of Israel and with the House of Judah! The Christian Church and the whole world owe a great debt to Israel because “Salvation is of the Jews!” Who really own the land of Israel? God does! This settles all debate!
