(Isaiah 40:31) “They that wait on the Lord will renew their strength; They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”
Did you know that When the Eagle grows old that his feathers become weak and cannot take him as fast as he should normally fly. When he feels weak and about to die, he retires to a place far away in the rocks. While there, he plucks out every feather on his body until he is completely bare. He stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, then he can come out from his place of seclusion and soar upwards to the heavens once again in his renewed strength and power.
Waiting on God is not a time where we sit back and wait for God to act in a certain situation or circumstance. There will be times in our walk with the Holy Spirit where we may not be able to be physically active in God’s work for various reasons. However, that does not mean we should be lazy in keeping our spiritual life active. Waiting on God involves praying and reading God’s Word to renew our thinking and gives us the opportunity to renew our love and commitment to Him and to reflect on how our own spiritual walk and work for the Lord is going.
It is while we are waiting in God’s presence that we should continue to praise and worship Him, trusting that He still has everything under control, and He does you know. These inactive times during this coronavirus gives the blessed Holy Spirit the opportunity to renew us spiritually and build into our character the spiritual qualities He desires to make us more like the Lord Jesus and empowered to do His will which is good, acceptable and perfect.
The eagle is always renewed by the warmth and light of the sun and is the only creature that can look directly into the sun and not be blinded. When the eagle becomes sick, he stretches himself on a rock and lies in the sun. The sun rays absorb the poison from the sick eagle and he becomes strong again. Waiting on the Lord requires that we must come to the Rock of all ages and prostrate before Him and let the heat rays of His blessed Holy Spirit renew our love for God and for others and it also allows Him to remove all the effects of sin in our lives through the cleansing power of the Messiah’s blood.
While waiting in his presence our calling and vision will be renewed and affirmed and there will be a fresh anointing of His Spirit to sustain and spiritually empower us for what lies ahead. Waiting on God is never time wasted. Finally, when the eagle approaches the last moment of his life, he lies on a rock, looks into the sun and gives up his life. As it is also written “Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his saints.” (Psalm 116:15)
