Those Who Go Down to The Pit

(Ezekiel 32:29b) “They lie with the uncircumcised, with those who go down to the pit.”

The battle for Jerusalem has intensified with the Turkish invasion of Northern Syria. The man from Turkey, this last “King of the North,” is flexing his military muscles and has started his campaign in earnest and with the help of his foreign ‘god’ will attack the mightiest fortresses with the invasion of Israel on the agenda. (Daniel 11:38-41) The Assad regime has now decided to give support to the Kurds which puts the Syrian regime in direct conflict with the Erdogan regime. Assad relies upon Russia but will the Russians intervene if Turkey and Syria go to war? According to the prophet Isaiah Damascus itself will become “a ruinous heap” (Isaiah 17:1)

Already the bombed city of Damascus has become the harbinger of its total destruction in the near future according to The Word of the LORD. Now there are around 10,000 ISIS prisoners in Northern Syria being guarded by the Kurds and soon to be aided by Syrian soldiers. Some of the ISIS prisoners have escaped and others are wreaking havoc within the prison camps. What will the Turks do with these ISIS prisoners once Turkey has conquered Syria? Will these ISIS fighters join the Turkish caliphate in the third and final Jihad against Jerusalem?

According to the prophet Zechariah, because of Israel’s persistent unbelief and rejection of their Messiah, another exile is coming for the people of Jerusalem. This time only half of the people of Jerusalem will be taken from the city into captivity into Islamic countries. (Zechariah 14:1-2) After three and a half years of occupation by the Islamic caliphate (Matthew 24:15, 21-22) (Revelation 11:2) (Daniel 7:25; 12:7) God will intervene and save Israel. (Zechariah 12:1-9) (Jeremiah 30:1-10) (Zechariah 14:3-5)

Tragically the invasion of Israel will see two thirds of Israelis struck down and perish in the land of Israel but a third will be left in it to be brought into God’s refining crucible and refined like silver and tested like gold and there. in the furnace of affliction, they will call on the LORD’s name and He will answer them; He will say “they are My people” and they will say “The LORD is our God!” (Zechariah 13:8-9)

This surviving remnant will be reunited to their Messiah when He returns to the Mount of Olives and be saved and protected from their enemies who have been pursuing them. (Zechariah 12:10-14; 14:3-5) (Revelation 12:6) Following this the Lord Jesus will establish His Messianic Kingdom (Zechariah 14:6-21) after this time of refining when the Messiah returns He will destroy the armies that have attacked Jerusalem as He inaugurates His Messianic Kingdom on earth. In that day “all Israel will be saved!” (Romans 11:25-27)

Even though half of the city of Jerusalem will be exiled the other half of the people will not be taken from the city. It will be a partial exile. Jerusalem will remain in its place! (Zechariah 12:2-3, 6) After the Messiah our Lord Jesus has destroyed all of Israel’s enemies and established His Messianic Kingdom on earth with His headquarters in Jerusalem, the Jewish exiles that have survived their captivity in Islamic nations will return to Israel. (Isaiah 11:10-16) (Isaiah 14:1-2)

The people of Israel will “possess their possession” (Obadiah 1:17) and “possess the gates of their enemies!” (Genesis 22:17) God’s people will possess the whole land of Israel from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River to be for them “an everlasting possession.” (Genesis 15:17-18; 17:7-8) This is Israel’s’ glorious inheritance in the Messiah!

As for the Islamic armies of the man of sin and the armies of the nations that have followed him, as the uncircumcised in heart, they will all go in wholesale lots down into the pit of Hades to join Satan whom they have served. (Ezekiel 32:18-32) (Revelation 19:19-21) (Isaiah 66:24) (Isaiah 14:9-23) As the psalmist writes; ” The enemy has come to eternal ruin, and You have uprooted their cities; the very memory of them has vanished” and again it is written; ” But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to sever their memory from the earth.” (Psalm 9:6; 34:16) This will be the lot  of those who go down to the pit!
