In Tuesday’s edition of Israel Unwired there was a report concerning Antony Blinken the new secretary of state for the Biden Administration to “keep” Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. According to the report Joe Biden recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and to all intents and purposes will keep the US Embassy in Jerusalem but also said that this is nothing to take for granted. While previous US administrations would publicly state that Jerusalem was Israel’s capital, not moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem was the key act that showed the world that the US did not really stand by that as policy. President Trump changed that, finally allowing for US foreign policy to truly accept Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
According to the report Blinken was an active participant in the Obama/Biden administration. Following the eight years of the Obama/Biden administration that did not move the US Embassy to Jerusalem and did not recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, it is nothing to take for granted that he now publicly accepts this new reality. For those who love the state of Israel and the Jews, this seems to be a good start. After such a strong relationship between Trump and Israel, it is a little worrisome to have a new administration coming in who does not have a history of supporting Israel the same way Trump did for four years of his presidency.
President Biden has picked many Obama administration people to fill his administration as well. Not only are they not pro-Israel, but they are also pro-rapprochement with Iran, to renew the Iran deal that empowered and enriched Iran to terrorize the region. What will the relationship between the US and Israel be? Will the US put pressure on Israel? Will they stop believing the Jewish state has every right to exist with secure borders? Blinken made a strong and commendable promise. Now we wait and see what his foreign policy will be, whether good for the US, Israel relationship, or damaging, as it was under Obama. Only time will tell. We must be thankful when necessary, yet be cautious as we move forward. The eight years of the Obama/Biden administration, with the same players returning to the arena of influence is very troubling.” (End of extract)
The Biden administration has made no secret about its desire to reach out directly with Iran. Israel, along with its new partners, the UAE and Bahrain and in a secret way Saudi Arabia, it has begun to make preparations for a proactive military policy against the Iranian regime. What is even a far more serious matter that will affect the Biden Administration and America as a nation is the administrations renewed commitment to a two state solution, something which God has clearly forbidden in his Word and a matter He is going to deal with when the nations who have divided up His land send their armies against Jerusalem in the near future. (Joel 3:1-3)
We know from God’s Word that God will gather all the nations to fight against the city of Jerusalem and that the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped and half of the city will go into exile but that the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. (Zechariah 14:1-3) This will cause the people of Israel to cry out to the Lord in their extremity which will last for three and a half years by the Jewish calendar. (Revelation 11:2; 12:5) At the end of this terrible time of great tribulation the Lord will go out to fight for Jerusalem by the hand of the Messiah accompanied by the armies of heaven and the glorified saints to destroy all the armies that have come against His people. (Zechariah 14:3-5) Before this happens during the time of Great tribulation God will supernaturally preserve and protect a faithful remnant of Jews who will come to believe in the Messiah our Lord Jesus when He returns. (Revelation 12: 6) (Zechariah 12:10-14) (Romans 11:5, 25-29) In that day every Jew still living on earth will be saved. (Romans 11:26)
It would seem from God’s Word that with the future division of Jerusalem will also see the division of the land of Israel itself and may well happen under the Biden Administration and undoubtedly approved by the UN and the EU and the other nations of the world. This move by the nations against Israel will be in reality a move against God, a defiant act against Him by a world in rebellion against Him and militant against His people the Jews, and by extension and inclusion, faithful Christians grafted into the Commonwealth of Israel through faith in the Messiah. (Romans 11:15-18) (Ephesians 2:11-22)
While Biden and Co outwardly at least seem to support Israel, their actions towards Israel may well define their real intentions. The Islamic world will never accept a non-divided Israel if the truth be known. Abbas and Co will never accept a divided Jerusalem or an independent Palestinian capital. The “Palestinian” Authority has no legal jurisdiction in Jerusalem, however in the last few weeks it has made moves to take over the eastern areas of Jerusalem. The PA, with its supporters in the EU and even left wing groups in America, has always supported an Arab takeover of sovereign Jerusalem, but now it is announcing it. In reality the PA wants all of Jerusalem and will settle for nothing less than that. They want Jerusalem as the capital of their ‘Palestinian State,’ something that prime Minster Netanyahu will never agree with much to the chagrin of the PA and the wider Islamic world.
In fact the whole Muslim world will turn against Israel, but, by and large at present, are biding their time waiting to see what the Biden Administration will do regarding Israel and the Middle-east. Most of all Iran will be watching as they move ahead with their nuclear programme knowing that they well may have a renewed nuclear deal brokered by the new Biden Administration and that on Iran’s own terms. No wonder that the Iranian regime were ‘happy’ with Joe Biden’s election as President of the united States. While the EU are now backtracking on their past approval of the Iranian nuclear deal, because of Iranians accelerated Uranium development, the EU will most likely remain indolent in doing anything about reigning in Iran’s ambitions to go nuclear. Just look at the leaders of Europe compromising with Islam.
Right now the pressure is on Prime Minster Netanyahu to make concessions regarding Israel’s settlement plans and to re-negotiate its borders but Prime Minister Netanyahu will never agree to this knowing that the Land of Israel and the whole of Jerusalem belongs to the Jewish people and that the land was given to the Jewish people to be their inheritance Biblically. He has been attending regular Bible studies and knows what God has promised to the people of Israel concerning the land. In the upcoming elections in Israel if the people do not vote for Prime Minister Netanyahu then they may well vote in the worthless shepherd who will betray the nation to their enemies. (Zechariah 11: 15-17)
In raising up this worthless shepherd who will be the catalyst for Israel’s devastation, God will use this situation to bring His people back to Himself and to the foot of that old rugged cross where He has opened up for the surviving Jews a fountain for uncleanliness and for sin through the atoning blood of the Messiah our Lord Jesus. (Zechariah 13:1) Zechariah the prophet also writes; “It will come about in all the land,” Declares the Lord, “That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; But the third will be left in it. “And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,’ And they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’” (Zechariah 13:8-9)
If Joe Biden persists in the two-state solution then he may well find the armies of America, along with the armies of the nations that have also divided up the Land of Israel, all together in the valley of decision where God will enter into judgement with them! (Joel 3:1-2) When the dust of battle finally settles over the land of Israel the last ones standing will be the Messiah our Lord Jesus and His redeemed saints, both believing Jews and Gentiles, one new man in the Messiah. From that time on the whole world that has survived the Messiah’s second coming will know that He is indeed and the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and the King of the Jews!
