The war in Libya is intensifying as we see the leader of the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who is behind the government’s refusal to approve of the Government of National Accord, the government’s executive branch led by Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj and two Deputy Prime Ministers, Ahmed Maiteeq and Musa Al-Koni. Hafter is supported by The United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Russia. The publication Middle East Eye has reported that British, French, U.S. and United Arab Emirates air forces have assisted Haftar’s forces, after analysing leaked air traffic control recordings.
The Government of National Accord is an interim government for Libya that was formed under the terms of the Libyan Political Agreement, a United Nations–led initiative, signed on 17 December 2015. Turkey has backed this government. It has already been suggested that Egypt and Turkey are on a collision course. Also with Turkey’s spreading involvement in Middle-Eastern affairs it is clear that Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants to resurrect the Turkish Ottoman caliphate with himself as the designated Caliph of the Islamic world.
In Daniel chapter 11:1-35 we have described in detail several historic wars between the Seleucid Dynasty in the North that was based in Syria with the Ptolemy dynasty that was based in Egypt. It was a Middle-Eastern war. In verses 1- 28 we have a panoramic view of these wars that happened between these kings of the north with the kings of the south. However, from verses 29-35 the camera as it were zooms in on the Seleucid Greek Commander Antiochus Epiphanies who attacked Egypt but was opposed by the Romans (vs.29-30).
Antiochus then went to Israel and gathered to himself apostate Jews (vs.29). He then committed the abomination of desolation by sacrificing a pig on the altar of sacrifice in the Temple at Jerusalem (vs.31). He was supported by apostate Jews (vs.32). However, he and his forces were opposed by the guerrilla forces of the Maccabees who waged a guerrilla campaign against him and his forces at the cost of being betrayed by their fellow Jews that had collaborated with Antiochus (vss. 33-35). Ultimately Antiochus and his forces were driven out of Israel and the temple at Jerusalem re-consecrated. Today the Jewish people celebrate this event with Hanukah.
Now in between verses 35 and 36 we see ‘a time leap’ telescoping to the end of the age hinted at in vs.35. There is a break in the Hebrew text. In Daniel 11:36-45 we have a character who arises in the future who’s military exploits mirror those of Antiochus Epiphanies from the Seleucid dynasty. This man will be the last king of the north and he comes out of Syria as did Antiochus, but this man is Turkish. Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants to control Syria but needs to topple the Assad regime. Once Assad is deposed there will be no other Middle-eastern potentate to deal with. Recep Tayyip Erdogan will get his Caliphate and access to Israel from over the Golan Heights. This man may well turn out to be the one who magnifies himself above every other ‘god’ and will speak outrages things against the God of gods (Vs 36). This is the same one mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4.
He will be successful for a time but will come to his appointed end in God’s time frame (vs.36b). He shows no regard for the gods of his fathers but exults himself above them all and has great wealth at his disposal (vs.37). Before Mohammad there were 360 Arabian ‘gods’ that were worshipped in Mecca. When Mohammad invaded Mecca he got rid of them all except one and monotheised this one ‘god’ in the hope of unifying the Arab nations. This ‘god’ was the Arabic moon-god of war. The ‘image’ of this ‘god’ was actually a meteor which today is the black stone in the Kaaba at Mecca venerated by Muslims around the world. This is why we see the crossed swords pointing upwards on Islamic banners. It depicts conquest by the sword which is the base line for Islamic ideology. As for women for the most part Islam has no regards for their rights (vs.37).
We are also told he will honour a god of fortresses, gain tremendous wealth and attack other military forces (Vss.38-39). We see this today with militant Islam. It cannot assimilate with any other culture. It crushes and devours everything in its path and tramples underfoot what is left and is different from all other nations in that it cannot assimilate with any other culture because of its ideology. (Daniel 7:7). This foreign moon-god of war is called Allah today. To those who acknowledge the man of sin as the supreme Caliph of Islam he gives them land grants but at a price (vs39).
The battle Daniel describes is fought between the last king of the South (Egypt with its allies) with the last king of the north (Turkey with its allies). It will be an all-out war that will see other nations involved in the conflict. If he can establish the Turkish Ottoman Caliphate Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be supported most likely by Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan, and by the Turkic speaking Islamic states located in Southern Russia that were formally part of the Soviet Union. Most likely Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi from Egypt will be supported by the United Arab Emirates, America, France and Great Britain. The military forces of the Turkish Caliphate will invade many countries most of them located in Africa (vs.40).
He will also invade Israel but the ‘Palestinians’ in southern Jordan (Edom), central Jordan (Moab) and northern Jordan (Ammon) will willingly join him, giving him their allegiance. His power will be over many countries in the Middle-Eastern region but especially Egypt. Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants Egypt under a Muslim Brotherhood government and he will see to it when Egypt falls to his power He will take Egypt’s riches and Libya and the Sudan will also be in his power and under the Caliphate. Oil reserves in Libya are the largest in Africa and among the ten largest globally. It is a prize Turkey wants and that other nations want as well (Vs.41-43).
Now we are also told that reports from the east and the north will alarm the Turkish Caliph (vs.43). East of Turkey you have China and the forces of China will never accept an Islamic Caliphate or bow to Islam. Right now in China there is massive human rights abuses where the Chinese Communist Government is committing genocide against its Uyghur Muslim minority and is holding 3 million Uyghurs in modern day concentration camps.
As for Russia, located directly north of Turkey, Putin will ‘sabre rattle’ over what Turkey is doing in Libya with its expansionist agenda for the middle–east especially as it wants access to the huge oil and natural gas reserves. In past history Russia and Turkey have fought several wars. Obviously oil and natural gas will be a primary factor in all of this Middle-Eastern conflagration. With the threats from China and Russia the caliph will ‘up the ante’ on his military campaigns ferociously as he seeks to establish the Turkish Ottoman Caliphate across the Middle East (vs.44). Ultimately he will meet his end in Israel after he has set his headquarters in Jerusalem (vs.45).
Recep Tayyip Erdogan now has the Hagia Sofia but above all he wants the Temple Mount. Whether his forces get Rome and the Vatican we are not told in Daniel Chapter 11. However, with the Islamic immigration that has flooded Europe it may be that we will see an Islamic uprising. There is no doubt there is a huge Islamic ‘Trojan Horse’ well ensconced within the very heart of Europe. Once the Caliphate is established it will be a universal call to Muslims globally to rise up against ‘the infidels’ as they call non-Muslims in the western democracies. Every prophecy of Daniel related to past history has come to pass exactly as Daniel predicted by the Spirit of God. If Daniel’s prophecies in the past have come true then his future prophecies will also come to pass in history. The Hebrew prophets in the Bible were always 100% accurate. (Deuteronomy 18:21-22) (2 Peter 1:20)
When you look at Bible prophecy virtually all of the nations and geographical regions mentioned are all Islamic today. The ‘insanity’ we see escalating in the world will all end when the Lord Jesus comes back. On that day He will settle all disputes, destroys all of His enemies, deliver Israel and inaugurate His Messianic Kingdom. To this the prophets testify in the Spirit-breathed Word of God! (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
P.S. What has been set out in the article is based on observation of events and how the situation in the Middle-East between Egypt and Turkey and their allies is developing when examined in the light of God’s Word. It would seem the nations of the world are heading towards a war in the Middle-East. Both WW1 and WW2 started as regional wars but escalated into international wars. Ultimately it is most likely that Turkey with its Islamic allies may well kick start WW3 which will see a third of the world’s population destroyed by modern fire-power and even nuclear fallout. (Revelation 9:13-19) As in all matters of Bible prophecy time will tell if what has been shared in this article takes place in the way it has been related. However, as the Second Coming of the Messiah our Lord Jesus gets closer prophetic events, as revealed in scripture, will become clearer to those who have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Churches.
