“So will it be at the Coming of the Son of Man”

Today we are living in a world that is just like it was in the days before the flood in the time of Noah. People are eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage and conducting business as normal. In the Book of Genesis Chapter six we are told about the world of Noah’s time and what it was like.

Firstly; there was satanic infiltration of the human race by fallen angels who had sex with human women and produced offspring called the Nephilim or fallen ones. (Genesis 6:1-4) Satanic infiltration is happening again today through virtual reality technology where the minds and imaginations of millions of young people globally are being hijacked through violent and sexually explicit virtual reality games and internet movies depicting demonic images of monsters and evil looking creatures of all kinds.

These creatures presented in these video/computer games are obviously images from the underworld that have supernatural power and in reality are the images of demons and other beings dwelling in the fallen unseen spiritual world. Those who create these creatures for their Si-Fi computer games in many cases get their images from the same fallen unseen spiritual realm even though they may not realise it. Many it seems may even dabble in witchcraft or open themselves up in some way to demonic spirits. We are told in the Word of God that Satan is “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2) and the word used for air in the Greek text of the Bible describes the atmosphere just above the circumference of the globe where the radio, television and internet waves flow.

Everyone remembers the Harry Potter franchise which was blatant witchcraft and many spells revealed in the books and the movies were real occult spells. Children at school were going around casting spells on other children they did not like. Even Disney has been hijacked by Satan’s minions as we see witches and spells and incantations and supernatural manifestations making a lasting impression on very young minds.

Secondly; in the time of Noah we are also told that the wickedness of man was so great that every inclination of people’s hearts were only evil all of the time. (Genesis 6:5) The imagination was involved. Thirdly; we are also told that the earth was filled with violence. (Genesis 6:11) Today in our world violence is a daily occurrence. Fourthly;  Paul writing to Timothy about what people will be like in the last days starts by listing the specific character traits of people, both within and without the wider Church. He begins the list with lovers of money and ends the list with lovers of pleasure. He also says they have a form of godliness or an outward veneer of professed godliness but inwardly are still under Satan’s power and in the grip of sin. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

Fifthly;  Another conspicuous feature of the last of the last days is the amount of spiritual deception running rampant through wider Christendom and even infiltrating the Body of the Messiah the faithful Assembly of believers corporately. Paul writes about doctrines of demons and that those who teach them have their consciences seared as with a hot iron and they are incapable of repenting of their deeds. (1Timothy 4:1-2) Peter writes that in the last days there will be an infestation of false prophets that are laying truth and error side by side. (2 Peter 2:1-3)

Now at the root of all of these things is the satanic invasion of this planet. Satan and his fallen angels and the demons have always been active on earth, but just before the Lord Jesus comes back there will be demonoids and Nephilim walking the earth once again. These will be a fusion of Angelic and human DNA. When you look at the way scientists are playing around with DNA and cloning animals and seeking ways to biologically enhance humans one can see Satanic involvement in this.

They have made movies about bionic soldiers and cyborgs and those with enhanced DNA making them super strong and this is no longer a matter of fiction but a reality in our world. China is now experimenting in this area to produce super soldiers with greatly enhanced capabilities that are beyond normal human strength. These scientists are seeking ways to interfere with human DNA. Scientists have been working on microchip technology that can be wired into the human brain affecting human thinking and actions.

Now there is nothing wrong with technology in itself but in the hands of sinful man there is no end to the depths of depravity that can be unleashed on the human race and will be unleashed before the Lord Jesus comes back. The human heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked and who can know it except God and those who truly repent of their sin before God. (Jeremiah 17:9)

Now Noah we are told was different from those in the world. Firstly; he was a righteous man because he had been declared to be righteous on the basis of his faith in God and obedience to His word (Romans 4:5). Secondly; he was blameless among the people of his time and he lived a life that was pleasing to the Lord and was not given over to the lifestyles, the pleasures, pursuits, pastimes and fleshly passions and desires of the pagan world surrounding him.  Thirdly; he walked with God every day, moment by moment. (Genesis 6:9)

Now it was not easy for Noah and his family as it took 120 years to build the ark and during that time he preached salvation to the unsaved around him because we are told in God’s Word that Noah was “a preacher of righteousness.” (2 Peter 2:5) Imagine the scene. Here is an old man and seven of his family members building a huge ship and there was no sign of any water. He must have been the laughing stock of the people that came out to see this strange sight. One can well imagine people sitting in their chairs with their drinks watching the so called spectacle and undoubtedly making rude and derogatory remarks. When he wasn’t building the ark Noah would go out and preach to the people telling them to turn away from their wickedness and to turn to God for mercy and salvation, while at the same time, warning them that a terrible retribution was coming and that the ark was the only place of refuge. No one was listening!

People are like this today and think that they will not see judgement. Even within wider Christendom there are those who are neglecting to come to terms with the fact that the Lord Jesus is coming back, not as the saviour but as the judge to whom all men still living at that time will have to give an account for the way they have lived down here. Even within wider Christendom many professing Christians have a sceptical attitude towards the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus.

As Peter writes; “Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of ungodly men.” (2 Peter 3:3-7)

Those who make such careless and rather cavalier statements know the Lord Jesus is coming back but somehow they are not preparing themselves for it but living only for this world and for the things of this world. They are like the people in the time of Noah who were more preoccupied with the pleasures, the pursuits and with their daily lifestyles. Those within wider Christendom who are casual and even indifferent conveniently push to the backburner of their minds that the Lord Jesus is coming back to judge the world in righteousness and with justice. (Acts 17:30-31)

God commands that men everywhere repent of their wicked ways and turn again to their creator who loves them still but must maintain righteousness and justice as He is no respecter of persons but He is a respecter of faith (Acts 20:21) (Hebrews 11:6) The people of Noah’s time were not ready for the wrath to come and neither are people in this fallen world. Time is running out yet the door to the ark of salvation is still open and the Lord Jesus Second Coming has been delayed so that men might not perish in eternal torment but be saved and rescued out of this present evil age according to the will of God. (Galatians 1:4) God in His patience is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) However, the Day of the Lord will come like a thief when He is least expected. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and its works will be laid bare (or burnt up) (2 Peter 3:10)

It may be you are reading this and you are not saved, you have not availed yourself of the ark of salvation provided for you at the cross. Coming to God in repentance for sin and to the cross of Jesus through faith in Him and in His atoning blood you can be justified, cleansed, forgiven, sanctified, redeemed and protected from the coming wrath. (Ephesians 1:7) (Romans 5:9)  It is a narrow door and few there be that will find it in the last days but the invitation is still there. The door to the ark of salvation, being the Lord Jesus the Messiah, is still open. (John 14:6) That fountain of His blood is still open for uncleanliness and sin (Zechariah 13:1) Will you come by faith to the foot of that old rugged cross to settle accounts with the risen Messiah, our Lord Jesus?

In the time of Noah the day came when God shut the door and after that there was no reprieve. The rain started to fall and the water started to rise and the people in wholesale lots started to panic and were running towards the ark and pounding on the door with their fists but to no avail. It will be the same dilemma for the unsaved of this world at the Second Coming of the Messiah our Lord Jesus the Messiah. When He returns to this earth He will gather his elect saints from one end of the earth to the other and from one end of the heavens to the other. (Matthew 24:29-31) (Mark 13:26)

The rescue is coming for all who by faith have entered into the ark of salvation. (Proverbs 18:10) The blood of the Messiah will protect them in the day of His wrath. (Romans 5:9) It’s not too late. Will you come by faith and repent and believe on Him who has shed his blood to atone for your sins, that atoning blood that can cleanse you from all sin and make you presentable for the courts of heaven. (1 John 1:7-9) (Hebrews 10:19-20) Don’t be like the people in the time of Noah, who in their indifference to the salvation God had provided for them in the ark, perished in the water. This time it will be by fire that the earth will be cleansed of all that is unrighteous and profane and that stands against the laws and commandments of God.

As God has said in His word; “Behold, now is the time of favour; now is the day of salvation!” (2 Corinthians 6:2) and again it is written; “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” (Hebrews 3:15). And so we are told by the Lord Jesus; “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” Are you ready for the Day of the Lord, for it will surely come expectantly upon this wicked and adulterous generation and in that day there will be no reprieve!
