Right now in America the Evangelical/ Charismatic world by and large are in fervour anxious activity over the seeming defeat of President Trump at the voting polls. In an article on Israel Today Online two days ago it addressed the whole situation related to the election in the American evangelical/ charismatic circles. While many sincere Bible believers can see the damaging alternative of a Joe Biden Administration unfortunately there are those whom the article calls ‘crazy’ Christians.
An excerpt from the article says; “For many Evangelicals who love Israel, Trump’s loss is a crisis of faith. After all he did for Israel and the Church, why would God remove him from office after just four years? Surely, the election must have been rigged. Prominent Evangelicals and televangelists have been prophesying that it is God’s will that Trump win the election. And now with the numbers against him, they continue to believe that Trump will somehow defy reality, that God will overturn the election results and keep him in the White House. Some have gone so far as to stake their prophetic reputation on this. Popular figures like Pat Robertson, Sid Roth, Paula White and Jeremiah Johnson, as well as countless lesser-known so-called “prophets” are scrambling to “bring down the evil forces” they claim have duped everyone in order to steal the election and overthrow Trump.” (End of extract)
The prophet Daniel wrote; “He changes times and seasons; He sets up kings and deposes them.” There is no doubt that the Lord raised up President Trump to stand with Israel. (Daniel 2:20-22) He is the only American President who has done more for Israel than any other one in living memory. Whatever one thinks of his personal character and life it cannot be denied that he has put his words into action where Israel is concerned. The downside is that President Trump has gathered around him by and large so called ‘prophets’ and ‘soothsayers’ to be blunt that have inundated him with prophecies about his future success as President. Prophecy after prophecy has been pronounced over him by these so called well-meaning and fervent ’prophets’ visiting him in the White House.
Over the last six-months or so it is grieving to see the numerous so called ‘prophets’ and ‘soothsayers’ uttering prophecies about President Trump in the Whitehouse and over the internet. When looking at the videos of these so called ‘prophets’ and other leaders praying over the President he is sitting in his Oval Office chair hunched over to a degree with his eyes closed looking like a little lost boy if the truth be known and surrounded by a cacophony of unending noise. I am sure he was glad that there were Christian leaders praying over him and possibly in his deep mind he was glad for their support with the elections looming. Among those prophesying and praying over him were some of the leading luminaries in the hyper faith prosperity camp.
As for his personal spiritual advisor the video clips of her ‘performance’ on the internet tell it all. One may well ask the question where are the sound, Godly, Biblically balanced men of God who can guide President Trump in the ways of righteousness for America. Vice-President Mike Pence is a quiet and, I believe, a Godly man who genuinely loves God and loves his president, who prays for his president and seeks to advise him on spiritual matters and decisions when appropriate to do so. Somehow it seems for the most part that President Trump’s ‘spiritual advisors’ are more concerned with making a big show of being able to ‘rub shoulders’ with the man of the hour in their thinking than they are in helping him to guide the American nation into the paths of righteousness. As God Himself has said; “Righteousness exults a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 13:34)
In the Old Testament when the Babylonians were advancing of the Southern Kingdom of Judah there were a myriad of false prophets prophesying blessing and prosperity and defeat of their enemies while the people of Judah were living like the pagans around them and sacrificing their children in the fire to the demon Molech much like we see happening today on the sacrificial altars of abortion clinics in America! Jeremiah the prophet was one man who stood alone and could not join in the circle of the merrymakers. Jeremiah laments when he says; “I did not sit in the circle of merrymakers, Nor did I exult. Because of Your hand upon me I sat alone, For You filled me with indignation.” (Jeremiah 15:17)
Right now with the upheaval surrounding the Presidency of America the last thing needed in the Oval Office is an infestation of those claiming to hear from God and making a big noise about it! Even if by some miraculous intervention by God President Trump retains the Presidency it would still not justify the ministry of those in the hyper faith prosperity camp who have been in the circle of the merrymakers making their predictions. If President Trump is not re-elected then those who claim to have heard from the Lord have not heard from Him at all. We know from God’s Word in the Torah that true prophets are always 100% accurate when pronouncing things in the name of the Lord. They are not partly right and partly wrong. (Deuteronomy 18:18-22)
Once again we need to take heed to what Jeremiah the prophet says by the Spirit Breathed Word of God concerning those who would call themselves “prophets.” (Jeremiah 23:25-32) “I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy falsely in My name, saying, ‘I had a dream, I had a dream!’ How long? Is there anything in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy falsehood, even these prophets of the deception of their own heart, who intend to make My people forget My name by their dreams which they relate to one another, just as their fathers forgot My name because of Baal?
The prophet who has a dream may relate his dream, but let him who has My word speak My word in truth. What does straw have in common with grain?” declares the Lord. “Is not My word like fire?” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock? Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the Lord, “who steal My words from each other.
Behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the Lord, “who use their tongues and declare, ‘The Lord declares.’ Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams,” declares the Lord, “and related them and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit,” declares the Lord.”
We notice several things about these false prophets:
#1. False prophets dream dreams and have visions not from the Spirit of God but from the spiritual deception in their hearts and of their own imaginations and tell them to one another to bolster their prophesies and pronouncements.
#2. God likens the dreams of these false prophets to straw which has no nutritional value at all but can also be blown away by the winds of false and deceptive doctrines. (Ephesians 4:14) However God values His Word and calls it nutritious spiritual grain that can feed the human spirit with His holiness and righteousness and spiritually strengthen those who have a heart for Him to walk with Him. God also says that His word can flame the spiritual dryness of backsliders and break the heart hearts of the unrepentant as a hammer breaks the rocks into pieces.
#3. False prophets copy one another and we see this today on the internet especially among the hyper faith money preachers. Whatever is the ‘spiritual flavour’ of the month that is what they produce, lollypops and fairy floss that satiate the fleshly unspiritual covetous appetites of those having itching ears but produce no spiritual nourishment for their soul. Many of God’s people love it this way. (Jeremiah 5:31) (2 Timothy 2:3-4)
#4. False prophets in relating their dreams are in reality boasting and God Himself calls it reckless, without real spiritual foresight as to how their dreams are spiritually defiling their adherents. God did not send them neither had they stood in His presence. As the Lord says through Jeremiah; “I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied. But if they had stood in My council, they would have proclaimed My words to My people and turned them back from their evil ways and deeds.” (Jeremiah 23:23)
At election time God is still in control and raises up whom He will and dethrones whom He will yet when He does raise up a ruler He expects that ruler to act wisely. However, if he despises wisdom and God’s guidance or allows himself to be spiritually deceived by those advisors he has appointed then God will remove Him and replace Him with one who will lead the nation that has elected him to office in a merry dance down the yellow brick road only to find at the end of it not the Wizard of Oz but someone far more diabolical!
