A global peace?
Having watched President Trump’s address to the UN General Assembly on Monday this week was an excellent address humanly speaking and one aimed at seeing the nations of the world maintain their independence and with the right to have their own laws and customs and religious beliefs and freedoms and it was clear that he also included Israel when he mentioned the relocation of the US Embassy to Jerusalem. He also addressed the upturn in America’s economy since his inauguration and that of his administration. He also mentioned his opposition to ‘globalism’ as an alternative means to governing nations. He also had on his mind a global peace between nations and this of course would include Israel.
The Donald ‘Trump Card’
According to an extract from an article written in Israel Today online by regular writer Tsvi Sadan, it said; “To Israeli ears, The New Yorker’s scornful reporting of “the audible ripple of gasps and giggles” supposedly heard in the UN General Assembly during Trump’s speech sounds too vindictive and harsh. The terms “patriotism,” “homeland,” “people,” “sovereign and independent nations” guided by “ancient wisdom” did not sound at all offensive to most Israelis who, I suppose, would not mind seeing Israel restored to the kind of Liberal Conservatism that Trump is talking about. America under Trump wants to restore the sovereignty of nations and pride in national culture and heritage. Instead of the uni-cultural world coerced upon us in the name of multiculturalism, America now encourages countries like Israel to freely pursue our own destiny. “The whole world is richer, humanity is better,” said Trump, “because of this beautiful constellation of nations, each very special, each very unique, and each shining brightly in its part of the world.”
Ripe for judgement?
Whatever you may think about his personality or his mannerisms which at time may lack ‘politically correct spit and polish,’ there is no doubt he wants to see a better world and that he sees America contributing to this end. Also when you consider America they are a very generous nation especially when providing humanitarian aid to other nations. Also most of the support for world missionary organizations comes out of America and possibly this is one of the reasons that God has not as yet judged America as a nation for its sins and violation of his laws and commandments which is increasing at an alarming rate.
Attacked on its home soil?
However, a time is coming when America may no longer be the world’s police force or benefactor due to internal problems on their own soil whether from bad weather patterns hitting America hard or from terrorist attacks on their own soil. Added to this if America is hit by missiles unexpectedly from a foreign power then the possibly exists that President Trump would withdraw American forces from other nations and bring them home to fight on America’s home soil. If this were to occur, then America would be isolated to a great degree from the rest of the world and then there would be the real possibility that some of the European nations, not open to Islamic migration, might go to war with Islam, a war that would not only spread throughout the Middle-east but also into parts of Europe.
What about Kim Jong-un?
At present America and China are actively engaged in a trade war and China is no doubt a military power to be reckoned with. Also remember that China backed North Korea in the Korean War. Added to this Kim Jong-un has still not totally dismantled his nuclear sites. He is very much a puppet of China if the truth be known and does what he is told to do. Possibly it was China that ‘encouraged’ him to the negotiation table with President Trump and with President Moon Jae-in. To all outward appearances it seems that Kim Jong-un wants peace on the Korean peninsula but is this merely an elusive persona masking a much more deadly and even sinister intention that will one day become clear? Frankly Kim Jong-un is as stable as nitro-glycerine. Added to this his persecution of faithful believers in the Lord Jesus goes on unabated.
The Day of the LORD
While political leaders in the UN and even the EU talk about peace and security in the world the fact remains that according to the Word of God any peace established by man will not last as man has yet to recon on the day of the LORD. Paul the Apostle understood this when he wrote; “But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labour pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:2-3)
An uneasy peace
A day is coming when the nations of the world will arrive at a somewhat uneasy peace and people will breathe a sigh of relief that impending disaster and doom has been averted, or so it will seem. Even in the middle-east things will seem have settled down to a great degree, believe it or not! There is no doubt that there will be a kind of global peace according to the Apostle Paul and that most probably it will be centred in the middle-east and it will look as if everything will settle down. This treaty will be signed between Israel and its Islamic neighbours but it will be a covenant of death and not life. Israel will be trusting in man and not God and this in itself will trip start the Time of Great Trouble for Israel and for the whole world. (Isaiah 28:14-15) (Jeremiah 30:1-7) (Matthew 24:15)
The Four Horsemen
The ‘birth pains’ of wars, rumours of wars, earthquakes, disease and pestilence and persecution and apostasy will still be around but suddenly converge and see terror and tribulation unleashed on a scale unparalleled in past history and never to be equalled again in the future. This will usher in the Day of the LORD when the birth pains will be so frequent and intense that only the Second Coming of the Messiah our Lord Jesus will save the world from total annihilation. (Matthew 24:21-22) When the four horsemen of the Apocalypse take their final ride across the surface of the earth the time will have come for the revealing of the Son of Man from Heaven and in that day no potentate or power or principality in the earth or under the earth or in the atmosphere will be able to hide from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand? (Revelation 6:16-17)
When the Son of Man is revealed
When our Lord Jesus comes back He will Judge the nations according to His holiness and righteous standards, rapture and resurrect the saints, save and rescue Israel, destroy Antichrist and his armies, separate the sheep nations from the goat nations over the way they have treated Israel, and establish His Messianic Kingdom on earth. (Matthew 25:31-46) (Isaiah 2:1-5) Only then will the nations of the world know true peace, beat their swords into ploughshares and learn the art of war no more when the feet of the prince of Peace stand once again upon the Mount of Olives!
