“The Word of the Lord came to me again: “What do you see?” “I see a pot that is boiling,” I answered. “It is tilting toward us from the north.” The Lord said to me, “From the north disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land.” (Jeremiah 1:13-14)
Watching Sky News videos this week, related to the relationship between Australia and China, it was reported that “Former Speaker of the house Bronwyn Bishop said; “Chinese President Xi Jinping has become more “aggressive” in his plan to have “complete control” of the world – and Australia must be in a position “to fight” if the time comes. “To stay in power he has to be more aggressive, and he has become more aggressive”, she told Sky News host Gary Hardgrave.
She continued; “They are about turning our part of the world, including us, into vassal states where they are in complete control. This is a regime that harvests body parts and sells them. This is a regime that is determined to bring down the United States as the dominant power in the world – they want to break its currency – that is the aim of President Xi. “We have to be on a foot that is ready to fight if we need to.”
It was also reported on Sky News that The Australian’s Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan said; “There will be “another big crisis” if Australia rips up the 99-year lease on the Port of Darwin.” (The port was leased to Chinese company Landbridge in 2015 but is currently under review on the orders of the National Security Committee of Cabinet.) Mr Sheridan continued; “It would seem strange to me to set up a review if you didn’t plan to take some action at the end of the review,” he told Sky News. “After all, what government ever sets up a review without knowing what it wants the answer to be?
There are “contradictory dynamics” in relation to this issue and if there is any divestment it will end up costing the government “quite a bit of money – and that’s as it should be. If we do this, bad as things are between China and Australia right now, there will be another big crisis. Because what China particularly hates is when we take actions which damage its international reputation and this would be such an action,” he said.
Now, God told Jeremiah the prophet that Israel was going to be invaded from the north by a fierce and implacable enemy that would be likened to a boiling cauldron tilting away from the North towards Israel spewing out its scalding contents on the people of the land. God’s people were about to come under judgement because of the wickedness of the people’s hearts including their leaders. While there was a faithful remnant in Israel there were not enough of them to stem the flood-tide of judgement that was looming on the horizon like a dark spectre.
The Lord’s people, for the most part, had forsaken Him because of the increase of wickedness that had caused the love of most of them to grow cold, a conspicuous feature that will mark the last days just before the return of our Lord Jesus. (Matthew 24:12) God’s people in Israel were into idolatry, embracing the lifestyles, the pleasures, the pastimes, the practices of the pagan world and worshipping what their own hands had made. Their focus was buildings, religious ceremonies; loud worship and attending the Temple services regularly and building their own businesses and fortunes and doing what they thought was right in their own eyes, but their hearts were far from the Lord and from obedience to His Word in their daily living. (Amos 6:3-7) (Isaiah 29:13) (Matthew 15:8)
In the Word of God we see that when God’s people backslide inevitably He sends foreigners against them to bring about a return to Him with all of their hearts. While God does not approve of those who persecute His people He allows it , not to destroy His people, but to bring them back into a right relationship with Himself. Once God has used the nations to discipline His people He then gets rid of those nations and that big time!
Now the nation of Australia has a Judeo-Christian heritage and the freedoms and democracy we enjoy today are due to the Biblical Judeo-Christian heritage that has shaped the foundation of this great nation. There was a time when the Word of God was respected in Australia in the early years. Today things have dramatically changed in this nation. The Christian Church, by and large, has not been successful in stemming the flood-tide of wickedness spreading like gangrene across this great continent that has been called, “The Great Southland of the Holy Spirit.”
Today you have Ecumenism, interfaith, liberal Bible Colleges, and unbiblical practices and ceremonies in many Churches. You have a departure from apostolic authority as set forth in the Bible. You have the absolute authority of the Bible being replaced by psychology, the commandments of men and by pseudo doctrines that cannot be substantiated from the Word of God. The Word of God is being mixed with the philosophies of the world and scripture tells us that God hates the mixture. As it is written’ “You shall not wear a material mixed of wool and linen together.” (Deuteronomy 22:11) Linen used in this context in the Bible speaks of the righteous acts of the saints that stem from righteousness birthed supernaturally in the heart by the Holy Spirit. (Revelation 19:8) Wool in this context represents the fallen fleshly nature of man which can only produce unrighteousness unless people are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit.
It seems many churches claiming to have the power of the Holy Spirit are being ‘driven’ by dreams, manifestations, visions and prophecies promoting kingdom dominion, hyper faith prosperity and so called ‘evangelistic’ programmes for Church growth that minimize the weightier matters of the law, such as holiness, repentance, the reality of Hell, and the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus and what will precede it. It was C.H. Spurgeon who said; “The hammers of the opinions of men are smashed on the iron anvil of the Word of God.” Many churches worship the work of their own hands in taking pride in their buildings and denominational structures with carefully regulated Church programmes instead of planning according to God’s Word and obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit. In many church fellowships it is not so much a matter of what they are saying and teaching but what they are failing to say and to teach.
Secular society in Australia continues on its downward spiral to coming judgement. It is clear that the western democracies in the continent of Europe, Great Britain. America and in Australia have come under the judgement of God because they have turned their backs on His Word. “The boiling pot” tilting away from the north is pointing towards Australia and it may well turn out to be the Communist Chinese. Australia’s relationship with China is almost in tatters it seems and we can no longer depend on America with the Biden Administration riddled with socialists who do not care about democracy or freedom but have their own agenda for despotism and control of the masses.
Australia today is a post-Christian nation and our government over the last few decades have allowed socialism to ascend into the ranks of Parliament who have pushed the Bible out of our schools and the corridors of Parliamentary legislation. We have a Christian Prime Minister but he is up against wicked and unprincipled men who do not care for the Word of God or for the real blessings it can bring upon any nation that adheres to its commandment and statutes. As it is written; “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34)
Only God can save Australia!
Today in the corridors of the Australian Parliament we have legislation in place that sees vilification laws primarily passed to restrict Bible believers. You have state sanctioned abortion, same-sex marriage, euthanasia and the safe schools programme that seeks to facilitate a blurring of sexual identity. Australia has been called “the lucky country” but its luck is rapidly running out! Not only do we see China spreading its net of despotic power and control in the South pacific region but also north of Australia we have Indonesia, the largest Muslim populated country in the world. The only hope for Australia is a return to the absolute authority of the Word of God, but the return must first start with the Christian Church.
Ecumenism is not the answer! The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth and not error and leads people into all truth. (John 16:13) He will never lead God’s people into wrong doctrine or unbiblical practices. True spiritual unity is not based on an ecumenical unity but based on the solid foundation of God’s Word alone. We read what happened to the born again believers who, after they had received the power of the Holy Spirit, that they “gave themselves first to the apostles’ doctrine.” (Acts 2:42) They were of one heart and soul in this matter. (Acts 4:32) Everything the fellowship of believers did for the Lord Jesus stemmed from what they were told to do in the Word of God coming through the mouths of the apostles’ doctrine that we have in the New Testament today, endorsed and sealed by the blessed Holy Spirit.
We are told in God’s Word what the assembly was like at Jerusalem, after they had received the power of the Holy Spirit corporately when they were together in the upper room. “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold their property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:42-47)
As a believer in our Lord Jesus wouldn’t you like to be a part of a fellowship like that?
We are also told that repentance must come first before seasons of spiritual refreshing come from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19) Many today in the wider Body of the Messiah hunger and thirst after health, wealth, blessing, prosperity and having it good in this world, but very few hunger and thirst after righteousness. Only those who hunger and thirst after that righteousness, that comes by faith in the Lord Jesus will be filled with His righteousness. (Matthew 5:6) (Romans 3: 22) (Philippians 3:7-9)
Judgement is coming upon Australia as we see the boiling pot that is China, tilting away from the north and pointed towards this nation. The real Body of the Messiah in Australia (the faithful assembly of Bible believers) by and large, needs to return to apostolic doctrine and practice and once again embrace God’s Word as the final authority in matters pertaining to Christian living and service and by coming into a fresh relationship with the Holy Spirit with a willingness to obey Him unreservedly. (Acts 5:32) The Book of Acts is God’s blueprint for the Body of the Messiah.
The “boiling pot” from the north tilting towards Australia, if indeed it is China, can have its scalding contents turned aside by the grace and mercy of God, but it can only come about if there is repentance and a return to the Bible. Will it come? The only other alternative is that “boiling pot” tilting away from the north” pointing towards Australia with its scalding contents! It was said in the United States that only God could save America, well it is equally true of this land called “the Great Southland of the Holy Spirit.”
Only God can save Australia!
