“Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together, against the LORD and against His Anointed One: “Let us break Their chains and cast away Their cords” (Psalm 2:1-3).
There is a form of ‘insanity’ spreading like wildfire through the political world in the nations in relation to Iran. It seems the only ‘sane’ political leaders are in Israel who know what Iran is up to and are preparing for a war with that regime. We know from the Book of Daniel that a war is coming that will see Iran and Israel engaged in a middle-eastern conflagration that more than likely will draw other countries into this conflict (Daniel 10:12-14, 20a). Two days ago in Israel in a briefing on Iran to ambassadors from countries on the UN Security Council, Defence Minister Benny Gantz said; “Iran is only around 10 weeks away from acquiring weapons-grade materials necessary for a nuclear weapon. It is time for deeds — words are not enough. It is time for diplomatic, economic and even military deeds.”
As for diplomacy, the reality is that you cannot make peace with the Iranian regime and the Israeli leaders know this even if the United Nations, the European Union and the United States of America deliberately choose not to know. The Iranian regime is ‘hell-bent’ on starting a war with Israel and if they can even nuke American cities once the Iranian regime has nuclear capability. The ‘insanity’ in all of this is clearly seen when foreign dignitaries turned up on Thursday this week to attend the inauguration of the new Iranian regime headed up by incoming president Ebrahim Raisi who has been labelled “the butcher of Iran.” The US still has sanctions in place against Rasi for human rights abuses for condemning hundreds of his political rivals in Iran to death because they opposed the Iranian regime and their violent and repressive policies. This inauguration is an exercise in legitimizing the presidency of someone with a long record of genocide and crimes against humanity is a mockery of democracy and the universal principles of human rights that underpin the emergence of the European Union and for which tens of millions died in Europe in the twentieth century.
In Tehran some of those present at his inauguration were the Presidents of Afghanistan and Iraq, the Vice President of Venezuela, the Prime Ministers of Armenia and Algeria, the Political Bureau Chief of Hamas, and, believe it or not, even the Deputy Security General of the European Union was also present. There were 115 officials from 73 countries represented that took part in the swearing-in ceremony. Even North Korea was represented. The Iranian-North Korean threat is compounded by the two nations’ decades-long record of cooperation, especially in the realm of nuclear and ballistic missile development. Knowledge and technology flow both ways between these ‘partners’, enabling each to refine and advance their illicit proliferation activities.
Indirect talks in Vienna between Iran and the US on re-joining the 2015 JCPOA nuclear deal have been suspended until the incoming president Ebrahim Raisi officially takes office. Iran has been openly progressing in its nuclear program since the Trump administration withdrew from the deal and imposed crippling sanctions on the rogue nation. While the United States, the European Union and the United Nations all know the Iranian regime mindset somehow in their ‘insanity’ they are giving indirect or tacit approval of Iran’s nuclear ambitions in the Middle-Eastern Region with their missile silos pointing towards Israel. The reality is that the nations for the most part, including the Biden Administration, do not really care for the safety and security of Israel. If they did they would never let the Iranian regime get away with what they are doing or even countenance a nuclear deal with that rogue nation.
The Iranians are fighting a proxy war against Saudi Arabia from Yemen as the Iranian regime is funding and supplying weapons to the Houthi Rebels seeking to destroy the Saudis. Then you have Hamas continuing their militancy against Israel and Hamas backed by Iranian funding. Hamas has produced the M-75 rockets in local workshops using the drawings and documentation supplied by Iran. As for Hezbollah in Lebanon they have the support of Iran. As for Iran itself the main arms and WMD-related technology suppliers to Iran remain Russia, China, and North Korea.
At present Israeli intelligence and armed forces are on alert on their northern border with Lebanon due to the two rockets launched from Lebanon on Wednesday that struck Israel, which responded with artillery fire amid heightened regional tensions over an alleged Iranian attack on an oil tanker in the Gulf last week. Then yesterday Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed terrorist force, fired 19 rockets from southern Lebanon at Israel, raising fears that a third Lebanon War could erupt. The IDF announced that ten of the rockets were intercepted by Iron Dome batteries, while six landed unpopulated sections of Israeli territory, and three rockets cited landed in Lebanon itself.
While Biden touts that his administration ‘condemns’ the rocket attacks and supports Israel’s right to defend itself he has pledged 100 Million Dollars for the sustenance of the Lebanese people who are desperately in need of humanitarian aid. Already America has sent 560 Million Dollars to Lebanon over the past two years. Hezbollah are part of the Lebanese Government but it is clear the terrorist organization is the one running the show in Lebanon. Where will the 100 Million Dollars end up? Most likely it will end up in the coffers of Hezbollah? Already it is estimated that Hezbollah has around 130,000 rockets which if launched against Israel would see the Iron Dome not able to intercept them.
Iran is also in Syria and clearly supporting and fighting a proxy war against Israel. With COVID-19 now sweeping through the nations the whole world is being set up for a conflagration unlike anything in past history especially when you consider the nuclear arsenal in many nations today (Revelation 9:13-19). According to God’s Word the time is coming when Israel will stand alone against the nations. God Himself will have arranged this situation, not to destroy Israel, but to restore their broken relationship with the Lord Jesus their Messiah, their rightful Lord and only Saviour from sin. God has to use applied pressure to get Israel’s attention. In past history, as recorded in scripture, when Israel as a nation spiritually backslid the Lord sent foreign armies against them to turn His people back to Himself but when those armies had fulfilled His purposes He got rid of them and that big-time! The Iranian regime and their proxies will be no exception!
In these last of the last days God is going to destroy the Iranian regime and their armies but restore the fortunes of the Iranian people and set His throne of salvation in the Messiah within that nation (Jeremiah 49:37-39). Turkey and Iran and the armies of Islam and even other non-Islamic armies that attack Jerusalem, will be destroyed on the mountains of Israel (Ezekiel 39:4-5). These armies will go down into the pit of hell in wholesale lots! The nations are listed by name and they are all Islamic nations today (Ezekiel 32:17-32). Satan is out to destroy Israel and he is stirring up the nations of the world to fight against Israel because He knows that the Second Coming of the Messiah our Lord Jesus depends on the survival of Israel.
Having said this Israel will never be destroyed as a nation and even though only a faithful remnant will survive they will co-reign with the Messiah in His Messianic Kingdom on earth after He has come back. Whether it is Turkey, Russia, Iran, North Korea, China, the armies of Europe and every Muslim nation gathered to fight against Israel, it is in reality an assault on the Lord our God and on His Messiah our Lord Jesus. It is an attack on His sovereign rule and upon His people both in Israel and by extension and inclusion the faithful Church spiritually grafted into the Commonwealth of Israel (Romans 11:17-18) (Ephesians 2:11-22) (Revelation 12: 13-17).
Let the nations rage, let them plot and plan strategies against the Lord and His anointed Messiah and against His redeemed people, but their plotting against the Triune God and His people will be in vain because we also read in Psalm 2…
“The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord taunts them. Then He rebukes them in His anger, and terrifies them in His fury: “I have installed My King on Zion, upon My holy mountain.” I will proclaim the decree spoken to Me by the LORD: “You are My Son; today I have become Your Father. Ask Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance, the ends of the earth Your possession. You will break them with an iron sceptre; You will shatter them like pottery.” Therefore be wise, O kings; be admonished, O judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you perish in your rebellion, when His wrath ignites in an instant. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him” (Psalm 2:4-12).
There is no doubt that there is an ‘insanity’ sweeping the earth and nations are in turmoil and leaders not knowing the way out (Luke 21:25-26). COVID-19 it would seem is part of the beginning of the ‘birth pains’ our Lord Jesus spoke about but the end is not just yet (Matthew 24:8). At this time of global turmoil as believers in our Lord Jesus who know that He is coming back for us, let’s not buckle over at the knees in fear and with anxiety at what is coming upon the world but keep standing on our feet spiritually, being empowered by the blessed Holy Spirit and looking upwards with expectant faith because our ultimate redemption out of this present evil age is drawing closer and is even now at the very gates of the city (Luke 21:28).
Let Turkey, Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, Russia, North Korea, China, and all of the Islamic and European nations gather against God, against the Messiah, against Israel and against the faithful Body of the Messiah spiritually grafted into Israel, it is God who will have the last laugh! In that day when the Messiah rules with an iron sceptre over the nations that have survived his Second Coming, all men still living on earth will have to kiss the Son in subservience to His Lordship and submit to Him under the sceptre of His Kingship over the surviving nations. If they refuse to do this now, then they will be forced to do it after He has come back if they are still physically alive.
At the final Great White throne judgement at the end of the 1,000 year reign of the Messiah on earth, those ‘rebels’ who in this life ganged up on God and his Son and His blood washed, blood redeemed people will be physically resurrected to appear before that throne, not to be judged but to appear for sentencing because they have already been judged by their rejection of the salvation only found in the Lord Jesus. As it is written; “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved“(Acts 4:12).
And again we read what the Lord Jesus Himself said; “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God… He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:16-18, 36).
From God’s perspective of eternity what the Lord Jesus Himself said is what it really means to be truly sane in an insane world!
