Nimrod the Rebel
In the Book of Genesis we are told that Nimrod grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth and that he was a mighty hunter before the Lord. The only other references to Nimrod in the Bible are found in Micah 5:6, where Assyria is called the land of Nimrod, and I Chronicles 1:10, which reiterate his might. He was well known among the peoples he ruled over. (Genesis 10:9) Now the Hebrew translated says “He was a mighty hunter in the face of God.” In other words he was a rebel who stood against God. He was a hunter and he must have been quite proficient at hunting wild animals but more so a hunter who sought to snare men into his autocratic ‘net’ of despotism and rule over them…
