William Pen wrote: “Men must be governed by God or they will be ruled by tyrants.” We are living in a time unprecedented in past history. We have seen plagues come and go and governments and nations rise and fall but we are living in a time now when the very foundations of the free world are being shaken. No doubt this COVID-19 ‘Pandemic’ has changed things around the world from what they were and it has produced a world where people are looking more and more towards a centralised form of government to give them direction for the future and a sense of security socially, economically and for mental and emotional stability in an ever increasing troubled world.
At the very core of America right now the battle continues for the Presidency of the United States. It would seem there are irregularities in the voting system and the pathway to the Whitehouse as yet still uncertain. China is also expanding its influence economically and militarily as it seeks to establish its presence in the South China Sea and in the South Pacific. The Chinese Communists have taken control of Hong Kong and are now after Taiwan. The Australian government is more than aware of China’s economic sanctions against Australia and pose a very real threat militarily.
While the peace accord between Israel, the UAE, Bahrain and Sudan is in place the Arab world is now waiting to see what happens with the election in America. If Joe Biden gets in then America will inevitably slide down the slippery dip of moral, ethical and spiritual instability and possibly the more moderate Arab nations will reconsider their involvement with Israel. The fundamentalist Islamic world will rejoice if Joe Biden gets in because it will mean that America will no longer have a strong and resolute President like Donald Trump who will not condone terrorism, abortion, Planned Parenthood with its liberal policy on abortion, nor will he cave in to the Iranian Nuclear issue and neither will he fund Palestinian terrorist organizations. On the other hand Joe Biden will allow all of these things to be re-instigated.
Europe is in a mess with the results of the Covid-19 ‘Pandemic’ grossly affecting the socio-economic stability of the European nations as a whole. Also at this time we see the rise of Turkey as Recep Tayyip Erdoğan seeks to resurrect and establish the Turkish Ottoman Empire with its Caliphate. Then to top things off you have Iran with its nuclear ambitions. Up until now the Ayatollahs of Iran have been biding their time to see what will transpire with the American election knowing undoubtedly that if Joe Biden gets in that he will re-negotiate the Iranian Nuclear deal with the backing of Obama. Added to this Xi Jinping of China has already approached the Ayatollahs of Iran to do business with them which would bring mega-bucks into the coffers of the Iranian regime.
Now democracy is valuable in that it allows for people to express their opinions and views socially, politically or religiously without fear of censure. In a true democracy people need to be free to express their convictions. However, we see the solid wall of democracy in the western nations starting to crack. It seems clear that the current ‘Pandemic’ is steering multitudes of people globally to look to a centralised form of government to provide for then some socio-economic stability and security that will allow them to get on with their lives. Now many see a New World Order and the Illuminati and a ‘star chamber’ as it were, of a very powerful elite body of men seeking to control the world’s population using this ‘Pandemic’ to expand their globalist agenda. This cannot be completely ruled out.
Having said all of this we must turn to God’s Word for the answers. We know that Satan is “the god of this world” and rules over the sinful thoughts, ambitions and acts of men and his desire is to bring forth his man called the man of sin or the Antichrist or the son of perdition. (2 Thessalonians 2:3) Through this man Satan will gain direct access into the physical world. At present the secret power of lawlessness or rebellion is already at work in the world as we see the leaders of nations by and large having no time for God or for His Word. (2 Thessalonians 2:7)
While democracy is beneficial to people, in theory at least that allows for freedom of speech, worship and individual expression by the populace, it is not the best system as it is open to abuse and can be maligned by wicked and unprincipled men in the corridors of political power and despotism. As Jeremiah writes; “the human heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9) For example technology and medical science are in themselves beneficial to man but in the hands of sinful man they can become mankind’s worst nightmare. When you consider this virus that has come out of a laboratory in Wuhan you can see that men were playing around with biological weapons if the truth be known, something we have seen used by man in WW1 and in WWII and in more recent times.
Today there is no doubt that we are seeing the death of democracy globally. Satan is engineering the nations to bring his man onto the scene who will cause devastation and bloodshed unparalleled in past history and never to be equalled again. (Daniel 11:38-44) (Matthew 24:21-22) (Daniel 12:1) For many nations right now they are being faced with despotism as the foundations of democracy are being systematically destroyed. Having said all of this we must never forget that even though Satan is the ‘god’ of this world that the whole earth and all of its fullness belong to God and that He still has everything under His control. (2 Corinthians 4:4) (Psalm 24:1)
There is an alternative to democracy and despotism and that is a theocracy, not a man-made religious system of does or don’ts, but where leaders of nations take God’s Word as the yardstick and measuring rod for good and godly government as adequately expressed by William Penn one of the founding fathers of America who wrote; “Men must be governed by God or they will be ruled by tyrants.” There is just no alternative for a truly prosperous, free and just society in which righteousness prevails. The Ten Commandments are the most perfect set of rules given to men by God and they were written personally on tablets of stone by the finger of God Himself. (Exodus 31:18)
These commandments were not given to stop people from enjoying life but to provide a safety net and to set up boundaries to provide righteousness, justice and equality for all men and women regardless of race or colour or ones position in society. The very system of our laws and governance in the western democracies are founded and rooted in the 10 Commandments. The bottom line is that God’s Law must govern men. The real solution for the socio-economic, mental, emotional and spiritual instability of men and women boys and girls is that God’s laws and commandments must be written on their hearts by the Spirit of God if there is to be a truly just and righteous society. (2 Corinthians 3:3) Unless men and women are spiritually reborn again from above and are given God’s nature deep down on the inside of them society will never be changed. (John 3:3) (2 Corinthians 5:17)
As someone has said; “Unless there is within us that which is from above us, we will soon yield to that which is around us.” This is why, especially at this time when the lives of multitudes of people have been devastated by this virus, that the wider Body of the Messiah needs to preach the gospel of the kingdom more fervently than ever before because the time is short and coming soon when God’s people will have to strengthen what remains because of abounding lawlessness which will see the love of most believers grow cold. (Matthew 24:12) If the leaders and the people of a nation do not choose the truth as it is found in the Word of God then the ultimate alternative will be tyranny. This is why as believers in our Lord Jesus the Messiah we have an obligation to pray for those who govern our nation. (1Timothy 2:1-5) If a nation is not governed by men governed by God then Tyranny will prevail!” Selah!
