There is no doubt that Europe on the whole has no concern for the welfare of Israel. France reportedly has offered to extend a $15 billion letter of credit to the Iranian regime if it will comply with the 2015 nuclear agreement with the world powers. At a joint press conference in Berlin last week Chancellor Angela Merkel met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and announced publically that Germany is now the biggest bilateral donor to the Palestinian Arabs. According to Germany’s Bild news, the federal government announced that in 2018 about $166.2 million Euros flowed to the Palestinians. In addition, Germany transferred about $173.2 million Euros to the UN relief agency for Palestinian refugees. Whether the ‘refuges’ will actually get the aid remains to be seen as Abbas undoubtedly is ‘ramping up’ the Hamas war effort against Israel. During the past several years, government agencies in Germany have come under intense scrutiny in Israel for providing funding to Palestinian organisations linked to terror, anti-Semitism, and other forms of hate and extremism.
Adolph Hitler was a Lutheran by religious affiliation and much of his thinking concerning the Jews it has been said was shaped by Luther’s anti-Semitic writings and tirades against the Jews in the later years of his life. In his early years Martin Luther was a champion for the truth of God’s Word and there is no doubt he was God’s man for the hour yet in his later years tragically he turned against the Jews and that with seeming vehemence. Martin Luther actually wrote a book titled; “On The Jews and their Lies.” There is no doubt that a demonic principality (territorial spirit) controlled Adolph Hitler, the same spirit it seems is now controlling Angela Merkel as she does a billion dollar deal with Abbas and if the truth be known, a deal that will no doubt benefit Hamas. By doing this deal with Abbas the German government clearly show their disregard for Israel. Very soon Germany will not be safe anywhere for Jews living in that nation.
It is time for the Jews in Germany to go back to Israel and not to make the same mistake they made in the early 1930’s when they decided to stay in Germany and other European countries even after the Zionists had gone throughout Europe telling the Jewish people to leave and go back to Israel. Then the land of Israel was not very inviting geographically but it was still their inheritance bequeathed to them by God through a blood covenant He cut with Abraham and his descendants through Isaac and Jacob, not with Ishmael and Esau. God is allowing anti-Semitism to arise once again, not only in Europe but in all of the main nations where the Jews are now living and working. There is no doubt that God established Israel as a nation once again in 1948 after almost 2,000 years of exile and today the Land of Israel is a testimony to God keeping His covenants made to them as a nation. Yet also today by and large Israel is still away from God and aliens and strangers to their own covenants of promise, not to mention their estrangement from their Messiah the Lord Jesus.
God Himself has a pre-ordained appointment for His people to encounter their Messiah in Israel. It is a reunion that they cannot avoid. (Zechariah 12:10-14; 13:1) God is arranging circumstances in Europe and in other nations in such a way that His people will be forced to go back to Israel. The Jews are not going to go back to Israel for a picnic but for the Time of Jacob’s Trouble but at the end of it as a nation they will be saved out of it! (Jeremiah 30:1-10) As the prophet Zechariah writes; “It will come about in all the land,” Declares the LORD, “That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; But the third will be left in it. “And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,’ And they will say, ‘The LORD is my God.” (Zechariah 13:8-9)
No doubt the legacy of Luther’s writings, views and tirades against the Jewish people not only contributed to the terrible tragedy that was the holocaust, but that the same anti-Semitic spirit that influenced Martin Luther and controlled Adolph Hitler is alive and well in Germany today. Sadly, concerning the alarming anti-Semitic trend towards Jews in Germany, it would seem that Luther’s legacy lives on?
