And so ‘the Israel bashing’ continues
Once again “the Israel bashing” by the United Nations continues unabated as usual. In yesterday’s edition of Israel Today online a headliner read; “UN Condemns Israel, But Won’t Censure Hamas.” The article went on to say; “The United Nations’ bias and hypocrisy was on full display this week when the General Assembly voted overwhelmingly in favour of condemning Israel for the violence on the Gaza border, but refused to do the same for Hamas. Having failed to push a condemnation of Israel through the UN Security Council, thanks to a US veto, champions of the Palestinian cause turned to the General Assembly, even though resolutions passed there are not legally binding. The resolution passed on Wednesday slammed Israel for “excessive, disproportionate and indiscriminate” use of force in dealing with the mass infiltration attempts along the Israel-Gaza border.
The rumblings of the nations
The motion passed with 120 nations in favour, 8 opposed and 45 abstaining. Just before the vote, US Ambassador Nikki Haley proposed an amendment that would have also held Hamas responsible for the volatile situation. The assembly voted on the amendment, accepting it by a vote of 62 in favor, 58 opposed and 42 abstentions, but the General Assembly president refused to add the amendment to the resolution arguing that it required the approval of a two-thirds majority. The original anti-Israel draft then went forward to a vote absent the US amendment. Haley called the final General Assembly ruling a “morally bankrupt judgement.” In Israel, it wasn’t paid a great deal of attention. Israelis are by now used to the bias and hypocrisy of the United Nations, and do not much worry themselves with the rumblings of the nations (Isaiah 17:13).”
A taste of Islamic terror
Even now Islamic fundamentalist Jihad minded Muslims are wreaking havoc across Europe and spreading even beyond Europe. The very same nations “bashing” Israel are starting to get a taste of Islamic terror in their own backyards and much worse is yet to come for these nations. The reign of terror being perpetrated against Israel by Hamas and Hezbollah is coming to those nations in the UN who keep bashing Israel! Those 120 nations ganging up on Israel will undoubtedly reap the consequences of “slamming” Israel. The eight countries that voted against the resolution were the US, Australia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Togo and the Solomon Islands and including Israel of course. These nations will come into God’s blessing through the Gospel because in giving a “no” vote against the resolution is a “yes” vote for Israel and its right to defend its citizens from Hamas terror gangs. Once again among all of the UN’s rhetoric and sabre rattling nonsense concerning Israel the voice of reason and defence of Israel was clearly heard once again by the US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley bravely standing her ground even among the “mutterings and chirpings” of those UN members voting against Israel. Once again the Word of God clarifies this situation facing Israel…
#1. God is using this adversity from their Islamic neighbours and the UN and the EU to bring Israel as a nation back into a right relationship with Himself and He is using this applied pressure to bring this recociliation about. He is allowing these hostile neighbours to harass Israel, but not to destroy his people or to reject them but to bring them to the point where they will cry out to the LORD for deliverance as they did in the Book of Judges.
#2. When Israel turned away from the LORD and forsook His Word their enemies attacked them but when they cried out to the LORD and turned again from their wicked ways God sent them deliverers.
#3. The same “pattern’ is being used by God today, not to destroy Israel, but to bring them back to Himself and to an encounter with their long lost and rejected Saviour and older brother in the flesh our Lord Jesus the Messiah.
#4. Satan is using these enemies of Israel to try to destroy the nation as he knows his time is short and that the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus our Messiah depends on God’s prophetic plans and promises made to Israel through Abraham and ratified in our Messiah the Lord Jesus in the New Covenant made with the House of Israel and with the House of Judah. (Jeremiah 31:31)
#5. Islam is God’s instrument of judgement and correction for Israel because of its spiritually backslidden state and Satan is behind these wicked nations. However, God is going to ‘clean-House’ with Islam ‘big-time!’ (Ezekiel 25:12-14) (Isaiah 34; 5-14; 63:1-6)
#6. Once the Lord has brought His people Israel through the refining fire of His crucible and made then a Holy people, He will completely destroy Islam and every other kingdom on earth set up against God and His people and after this the saints will inherit the Messianic Kingdom on earth! (Daniel 7:21-22, 25-27)
#7. When Salvation comes to Israel for the remnant of His people and they encounter their Messiah it will be for the whole nation “Life from the Dead!” (Romans 11:15)
God’s gifts and call are irrevocable
We must always remember what the Apostle Rabbi Paul wrote concerning Israel in the last days…
“For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.” “This is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.” “From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God’s choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” (Romans 11:25-29)
