The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it

It is somewhat disturbing to see the situation that has developed in Israel concerning the bribery indictment against Prime Minister Netanyahu. It has come at a time when the nation needs to have a unified leadership not “a house divided against itself which cannot stand.”  Reading two reports from the Jerusalem Post made would make one inclined to think that the writers actually wanted to see Prime Minister Netanyahu ousted. I am inclined to think that it is really a ‘witch hunt’ to be brutally honest against an imperfect man who has only the interests and protection of his fellow Israelis on his heart. He does acknowledge the Bible in relation to Israel’s inheritance from God namely the land of Israel. (Genesis 15:18-19)

Prime Minister Netanyahu was prepared to form a unity government to work side by side with his political rivals knowing that disunity at the top makes the state of Israel more vulnerable to an attack from their hostile Islamic neighbours that surround them on all sides. However, the other political parties did not want this to happen. Why is it at this particular time that we see this disunity? What is really going on in Israel at present? Now according to the Word of God there are principalities of wickedness in the unseen spiritual realm that, collectively under Satan’s authority, are ‘hell-bent’ on seeing Israel wiped off the mat. Satan himself is called “the prince of the Power of the Air” and the word for “the air” is “atmosphere “the atmosphere just above the surface of the earth where the television, radio and internet waves encircle the globe.”

Most of the secular media today is under the power of the occult as much as the entertainment industry and the cyber world are as well. Satan knows that God’s prophetic purposes and plans depends on God’s promises to Israel to establish the Messianic Kingdom on earth and Satan wants to prevent the Second Coming of the Messiah from happening which depends on God’s covenant promises made to Abraham to give the people of Israel the land of Israel to be for them “an everlasting possession.” (Genesis 17:7-8) Of course Satan will never succeed in this matter because his doom is already sealed.

Having said this in the Book of Revelation we read where Satan has been cast down and in his wrath pursues the woman (Israel) who gave birth to the male child (Jesus the Messiah) but cannot destroy Israel so he goes after her offspring the faithful Church which by extension and inclusion is part of the Commonwealth of Israel. (Revelation 12:12-17) (Romans 11:18) (Ephesians 2:11-22) Satan is seeking to erect siege engines against the woman (Israel) and her offspring (the faithful Church) It is a spiritual battle that is taking place in the unseen spiritual realm in the atmosphere between the obedient ‘sons of God’ and the disobedient ‘sons of God’ who are all spirit-beings battling it out in this unseen spiritual realm just above the surface of the earth. Their battlefield includes the minds and the hearts of men.

The sons of God through faith in the Messiah, God’s earthly family, are battling side by side with God’s heavenly family also called ‘the sons of God’ against an implacable enemy. (Ephesians 6:12) This battle in the unseen spiritual realm is a global battle for the domination of the planet. If Satan can he wants to destroy Israel and Judeo-Christianity from the face of the earth so that he can set up his Kingdom through the man of sin or lawlessness, being the one who has a total disregard for the Torah. This disregard for the Torah, the prophets and the New Testament is also infiltrating wider Christendom producing the apostasy which is now in full-swing as we see Church after Church departing from the authority of the Bible, God’s unchanging Word.

It is the apostasy that is paving the way for the man of lawlessness who will be Satan incarnated. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4) He will come in on the floodtide of all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and lying wonders to deceive those who are perishing because they have deliberately disregarded the Messiah, the Torah and the prophets and the New Testament, having refused to love and obey the truth. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10)  God will actually send those who have no time for God’s laws and commandments a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and no longer capable of responding to the truth even when they hear it because they have delighted in wickedness. (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12)

At present it looks like Israelis will have to go to the voting polls again at a time when the nation needs to be unified. While Israel is yet to face their darkest hour in the end God will intervene and save His chosen remanent. (Romans 9:27) We must always keep in mind that God still has everything under control and this includes who will have the top Job in Israel. (Daniel 2:20-22) Whoever God sets up as the Prime Minister according to His infinitely divine and perfect will must be willing to submit to the LORD and to seek to govern the nation according to the moral, ethical and spiritual laws and commandments of the Torah.

Added to this if the newly elected Prime Minster acknowledges the Messiah then many more in Israel will be saved before the axe falls as it has once again been laid to the root because of the nation’s rebellion against the LORD, the Torah and the Messiah. Having said this it is also written in God’s Word that “God is not willing that any should perish but is patient and wishes that all people (regardless of ethnicity) might come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

At the end of the Time of Jacob’s Trouble when God has refined the nation and purged it from all spiritual defilement and destroyed all of Israel’s enemies, we have the assurance from God Himself that in that day that “All Israel will be saved!” (Jeremiah 30:1-10) (Romans 11:25-27) (Luke 1:71) God always remembers His covenants. Satan may be “the god of this world” but “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Psalm 24:1) Selah!
