Consolidating the Caliphate

According to a news media release a few days ago it was reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said earlier this week he may receive the leader of the militant Taliban group to discuss the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan. Erdogan, speaking in an interview with CNN Turk television last week said he discussed ways with the leadership of Qatar on how to stop the advance of the Taliban and how the two countries can take a step toward “peace.” “The situation that the Afghan people are in is very difficult, they are experiencing troubling times with the Taliban,” the Turkish President said. “Our relevant institutions are working on it, including talks with the Taliban, and I may also receive the leader of the Taliban,” he also said without elaborating.

According to a report in Reuters Online yesterday it stated that President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that Turkey still aims to maintain security at Kabul airport, after Taliban fighters took control of Afghanistan’s capital. NATO member Turkey, which has hundreds of troops in Afghanistan, had been discussing with the United States a proposal to keep those forces in the country to guard and run the airport after the withdrawal of other NATO forces. “With the Taliban maintaining control over the country, a new picture appeared before us,” Erdogan said in a television interview. “Now we are making our plans according to these new realities that were formed on the field and we are continuing our talks accordingly. Turkey was continuing contacts with all sides in the process” he also said, and welcomed what he described as “moderate statements by the Taliban since they swept into Kabul.” He also stated, “For the calm of the people of Afghanistan, the well-being of our Turkish kinsmen living in the country and protecting the interests of our country, we are open to any cooperation,” repeating an offer to host Taliban leaders for talks.

It is clear since the US withdrawal from Afghanistan that the Taliban do not want peace with the west at all. In a broadcast by the online website the Pulse of Israel yesterday there was a video clip of one of the Taliban Jihadists clearly enunciating in no uncertain terms that he was looking forward to Islam becoming a global power. The Taliban takeover in Afghanistan now threatens children, women and Christians who are most at risk. Seeing how Islam treats Christians in Muslim countries the same will be true for Afghanistan. The faithful Body of the Messiah has been growing in Afghanistan and is the second fastest growing assembly of New Covenant believers in the world. The Islamic nation of Iran is where the Body of the Messiah is growing the fastest within the Islamic world at large! In Turkey Christians are already persecuted. The reconverting the Hagia Sofia Basilica, the Vatican of the eastern Orthodox Church for centuries, back into a Mosque speaks for itself in relation to the Turkish leaders real attitude towards Christians. When we saw the man from Turkey leading the prayers in the Hagia Sofia in Istanbul you have the precursor or harbinger of what the man of sin will do when he sits  in God’s Temple to proclaim himself to be God (2 Thessalonians 2:4) (Daniel 11:36).

There is no doubt that the Turkish President is seeking to expand his agenda to see a Turkish Ottoman Caliphate established in the Middle-East region and even beyond with its tentacles reaching into Europe, something that marked the Turkish Ottoman Empire for 600 years during its rule in the Middle East. It was the Turkish Ottoman Empire that toppled the last remaining bastion of the Roman Empire which was called the Byzantium Empire. Then yesterday Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey aims to develop its relations with member countries of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). ASEAN was founded on August 8, 1967 in Bangkok. The organization is a regional block of 10 countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. It seems clear that the Turkish leader is well on his way to extending his vision for a resurrected Ottoman Empire of global proportions. Already Islam is well entrenched in most of this block of ten Asian nations.

Erdoğan has also approached the UAE. It has been reported in the news media that Regional rivals Turkey and the United Arab Emirates have made progress in relations that could lead to significant UAE investment in Turkey which Erdoğan said earlier this week after a rare meeting with a senior UAE official. We can also see a relationship developing between Turkey with the new Iranian leadership. Arif Keskin, a Turkish commentator and an expert on Iran, told Al-Monitor that, “escalating tensions between Iran and the West will force Tehran to sustain good relations with its neighbours to alleviate the impact of sanctions and isolation.” He also said, “Turkey, in turn, sees an opportunity in a possible faceoff between Iran and the West, and is softening its criticism toward Tehran and keeping its cautious tone.”

Finally, countries such as Turkey will likely bear personal significance for Raisi in Iran as he will be unlikely to receive a warm welcome from the international community, particularly Western leaders, because of his leading role in the mass execution of thousands of political prisoners in 1988. Added to this, Turkey’s quest for normalization with Egypt and a new beginning with Sudan hinges on how far Ankara takes its relations with Ethiopia amid a simmering water dispute in the region over Ethiopia’s mega dam on the Nile. We know from Ezekiel Chapter 38 that Sudan and Ethiopia will ultimately join the Turkish led Islamic invasion force when they invade the Holy Land. Iran will also be a part of this Jihad of all Jihads (Ezekiel 38:1-6). Egypt will be invaded and its treasures and wealth ransacked (Daniel 11:43).

In the bigger picture we need to see Recep Tayyip Erdoğan consolidating the caliphate and of course no guesses as to whom he has in mind for the top job! As for Syria, you still have Assad at the helm, yet we already see Iranian and Turkish forces active in Syria with Russia also having a keen interest in Syria. Once the Assad regime has been removed we will see a combined attack on Israel of a huge Islamic army led by Turkey and most likely over the Golan Heights and supported by Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon and by Hamas in Gaza.

The reality facing the western democracies and especially Israel is that Islam is uniting but as yet are still waiting for the revealing of the final Mahdi whom Muslims believe will lead the whole Muslim world in a final global Jihad, a war that will be centred in the Middle east but will see other nations drawn into the conflict as we saw with WWI and WWII. In this war spoken about in the Books of Daniel, Joel and Revelation. Iran and Turkey will be two of the major players in this war (Daniel 10:12-14; 11:36-45) (Joel 1:1-12) (Revelation 9:13-19). While you have the rise of China in the South China Sea and in the South Pacific region north of Australia, there is no doubt that the real threat to the whole world is Islam, especially when you consider Iran racing to have nuclear capability with the blessing of the EU and the US.

If the Turkish leader can manage to bring the Taliban leadership in Afghanistan under his protective wings, then he will be able to expand his realm of influence in the Middle-East even further. Of course this end-time Islamic Jihad minded army that will arise in the Middle East will be empowered by Satan and through this army Satan will seek to destroy Israel and New Covenant believers, the faithful Body of the Messiah (the faithful Church). We see this whole scenario played out in the Book of the prophet Joel. It will be an army that God will ultimately destroy when the Messiah has come back to fight and destroy the power of Islam! It will be a judgement on the Arab Islamic world and that primarily for the way they have treated God’s people. (Joel 2:18-20; 3:1-16) (Isaiah 34:5-10) (Ezekiel 25:12-14) (Obadiah 1:1-14).

The man from Turkey, his end, and that of his army, will come with no one to help him, and that at Jerusalem! (Daniel 2:32-35; 44-45; 5:26-28; 7:9-28; 8:25; 11:45) (Ezekiel 38:19-23; 39:4-6) (Revelation 19:11-21). The Messiah will go to war with the Muslim Arab world and He will be victorious! (Isaiah 63:1-6) (Revelation 19:11-21). The consolidating of the Caliphate may be on Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s agenda but the Coming of the Messianic Kingdom to earth, inaugurated by the Messiah our Lord Jesus, will consume all of the enemies of God big time! (2 Thessalonians 1:6-9) The Messiah’s kingdom will be a forever kingdom! (Revelation 11:15).
