On December 28th 2017 a nationwide protest by the Iranian people erupted in Iran against the despotic Regime, protests that continued into 2018. The riots had been caused by economic hardships, government corruption, opposition to Iranian involvement in regional conflicts, human rights issues, opposition to the government and calling for the overthrow of the existing Iranian government. These riots are no surprise because God has a plan for Iran once He has removed the regime. God Himself is going to shatter and destroy that evil and despotic regime and its armies and spiritually restore Iran as a nation.
God has not finished with Iran
God Himself spoke these words through the prophet Jeremiah; “’So I will shatter Elam before their enemies And before those who seek their lives; And I will bring calamity upon them, Even My fierce anger,’ declares the LORD, ‘And I will send out the sword after them Until I have consumed them. Then I will set My throne in Elam And destroy out of it king and princes,’ Declares the LORD. ‘But it will come about in the last days That I will restore the fortunes of Elam,'” Declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 49:37-39)
Israel’s friend
Elam or Persia in the Bible is Iran today. Historically and Biblically the Persians were friends of Israel. Only in 1979 when the Ayatollah and his henchmen came to power did Iran became Israel’s sworn enemy and hell-bent on its destruction. Primarily it was not the people who hated Israel but the Iranian dictatorship and since 1979 they have supressed the people and especially persecuted Christians. Historically the Persians were not Islamic but Zoastrian in their religious beliefs. In the Bible the Persians befriended Israel and they were always friendly with Israel down through the centuries since then right up until the Shah of Iran was deposed by the satanic regime of the despot Ayatollah Khomeini and his henchmen in their takeover in 1979. So then what is the LORD going to do in and for Iran?
The LORD will bring calamity upon the evil Iranian regime and its armies in His fierce anger.
As He has spoken; “’So I will shatter Elam before their enemies And before those who seek their lives; And I will bring calamity upon them, Even My fierce anger,’ declares the LORD, ‘And I will send out the sword after them Until I have consumed them.” Firstly the Iranian regime and its armies will be defeated in a war with Israel (Daniel 10: 20) Secondly, at a later time, meet their demise on the mountains of Israel along with all of the armies of the nations coming against Israel. (Ezekiel 39:4-6) God’s sword will go forth to completely destroy the armies of Iran. As He declares; “And I will send out the sword after them Until I have consumed them.”
The LORD will establish His kingdom in Iran and put His throne there and destroy out of it king and princes.
As He declares; “Then I will set My throne in Elam And destroy out of it king and princes,’ Declares the LORD. ‘But it will come about in the last days That I will restore the fortunes of Elam,'” Declares the LORD.” Iran, because of their past support of the Jews in times past before 1979, will be spiritually blessed and restored just prior to the return of the Lord Jesus. For God to set His throne in Iran means that the nation is destined to spiritually survive and thrive under the rule of the Messiah. At the end Iran as a nation will become one of the Messiah’s nations in His Millennial Kingdom. Even before this happens the LORD will spiritually revive the nation. The LORD has many of His choicest saints in Iran right now who are presently suffering under that despotic antichrist regime. I am persuaded that many more Iranians will come to faith in the Lord Jesus, especially once God has destroyed out of Iran its king and princes.
God will have the last laugh!
The riots in Iran are a signal to the Iranian government that the people themselves are no longer willing to tolerate that despotic regime. Without doubt troubled times are ahead internally for the Iranian people especially for believers in the Lord Jesus the Messiah, but in the end God Himself with the sword, will “destroy out of it king and princes.” Hassan Rouhani may have ‘a smile on his dial’ now, but what he does not realise is that God will have the last laugh! As the Psalmist wrote; “He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying, “But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.” (Psalm 2:4-6)
The LORD will restore Iran’s fortunes again
Let the nations rage and rant, let them ‘huff and puff’ and protest all they like over the status of Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital, but God will have the final say once He has installed His King, the Lord Jesus the Messiah on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, and that will settle everything! As for Iran once the Lord has set his throne in Elam He declares of that nation; “But it will come about in the last days That I will restore the fortunes of Elam,'” Declares the LORD.”
