Last week it was reported in the online publication of Israel Unwired that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi threatened to wipe Israel our in a fiery speech. He stated; “Enemies, particularly the Zionist regime, has receive the message that any tiny action against (our) country will prompt a harsh answer from the armed forces, which will accompany the destruction of Haifa and Tel Aviv,”

While this is nothing new for Iran, it comes at a time when Iranian backed forces have launched attacks from Lebanon and Syria indicating an expanded war is now upon Israel. While the Israeli protests continue in Israel and the Knesset are not unified, Israel’s leaders are realizing that Israel must prepare itself to attack Iran on its own, especially when Saudi Arabia and UAE appear to be seeking normalization with Iran.

In light of Israel’s national unrest with a divided leadership Iran has bolstered its supplies to both Hezbollah on Israel’s Northern border and its groups in Syria as well as strengthening Hamas in Gaza. More than that, Iran itself has thwarted all attempts at restraining its nuclear program and is now close to having a nuclear weapon. The Ayatollahs have already struck a long term defence pact with China and are readily providing Russia with attack drones.

This development essentially means that Iran is protected by the world’s super powers and if Israel does make the first strike against Iran that Israel itself can be attacked by the superpowers. This is the quandary Israel’s leadership is in at present. It is attacked from within and surrounded from the outside. Prime Minister ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu has a situation on his hands that cannot be easily resolved within a leadership that is not unified but deeply divided.

In the Book of Daniel we see a future war between Israel and Iran that Israel will win (Daniel 10:12-14, 20). This will precede the invasion of Israel by the Islamic nations mentioned in Ezekiel Chapter 38 accompanied by other non-Islamic nations (Ezekiel 38:1-6). Iranian forces will still be active in the invasion force even though Israel will to a great degree have put an end to the Iranian nuclear programme. In Jeremiah Chapter 49: 35-39 we see what will happen to Iran prophetically.

Verse 35: We are told that God “will break the bow of Elam” which in ancient times was part of modern day Iran. Historically the Elamites were known for their prowess in archery or the launching of arrows. Today the Iranian regime is preparing to launch missiles against Israel. God is going to break Iran’s missile sites which are the mainstay of Iran’s might.

Verse 36: We are told that God will bring against Iran the four winds from the four quarters of the heavens. These four “winds” represent nations from the four corners of the earth. They will attack Iran from the North, from the South, from the east and from the west. (Winds represent nations in Daniel 7:2) These “winds” will descend upon Iran and sweep through the nation. The “four quarters of heaven” signify that this judgement on Iran is a divine judgement. We are also told that the people of Iran will be forced to flee to as many countries as they can because of the terrible deluge and destruction that will have occurred in the nation.

Verse 37: We are told that as the Iranians flee they will be pursued by the hostile forces that have decimated Iran. Multitudes of Iranians will not survive because of the anger of God against Iran for its persecution of His people Israel and the New Covenant believers in the Messiah who were living in Iran. It does not pay to mess with Israel or with its offspring being New Covenant believers, “the seed of the woman (Israel) being those “who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus” (Revelation 12:17). God also says that He will pursue the fleeing Iranians with the sword until He has made an end of them. This does not mean that He will destroy all of the Iranians, but only those who have persecuted His people and who have been in rebellion against Him. He is angry because these Iranians have not believed the testimony to Jesus by their fellow Iranians but have persecuted and killed them by the authority of the Ayatollah’s regime.

Verse 38: We are also told that God will set His throne in Iran. In the Millennial Messianic kingdom Iran will be a believing nation under the rule of the Messiah. Today in Iran unnumbered thousands upon thousands of Iranians have found salvation in the Jewish Messiah our Lord Jesus and are flocking to Him in droves but are still a persecuted minority in Iran. The more New Covenant believers are persecuted and killed by the evil Ayatollah’s regime the more the believers “hatch!” As it has been said; “the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.” God will first destroy the Iranian leadership of the Ayatollah’s before He restores the nation. Once the Ayatollah’s regime has been removed Iran will flourish as a nation nationally and spiritually. The four main areas that God will target and remove will be Iran’s missile silos and nuclear facilities, its oil and gas reserves, its despotic satanically controlled leaders, and completely annihilate the spirit of Islam in Iran.

Verse 39: After all of these things have happened to Iran God also says that in the future He will restores the fortunes of Iran and they will be restored nationally and spiritually and be ruled by the Messiah reigning from Jerusalem. Many Iranians in exile will return home. The Ezekiel invasion is yet to happen and Iranian forces will also be there. The wholesale destruction of the Iranian regime will have to happen after the Ezekiel Chapter 38 invasion has commenced because Iranian forces will be in the invasion force (Ezekiel 38:5a). However, a war with Israel before the final invasion of Israel will see Iran defeated and its nuclear programme decimated by Israel air strikes. Iran “will be down but not out for the count.”

When the Messiah our Lord Jesus comes back to rescue Israel and destroys all opposition Iran will also not escape the fiery wrath of the Rider on the White Horse accompanied by the armies of heaven and also with all of the blood redeemed saints of God! (Jude 1:14-15) (2 Thessalonians 1:6-10) (Isaiah 63:1-6) (Revelation 19:11-21).
