It Can Only Be Done God’s Way

(Jer. 18:7–10) “If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it” .

With President Joe Biden now in the Oval Office it seems the game plan for America’s future is changing. It seems he is going to retract and undo many policies that were put into place by the Trump administration. Over the last two months or so many ‘prophets’ as such were ‘prophesying’ that President Trump would have a second term in office but now he is no longer the President of the United States making their prophecies false. (Deuteronomy 18: 21-22) Having said this, even if by some miraculous intervention by the Lord even at this stage, that Donald Trump retains the presidency, it does not mean that those who prophesied were after all true prophets.

Many of those who prophesied Donald Trump’s second term in office were by and large from the hyper faith, prosperity and kingdom dominion camps. Some others in the charismatic wing of Christendom even prophesied that there is going to be a great spiritual revival sweep through the USA but this sort of ‘prophesying’ is nothing new within “the circle of the Merrymakers.” (Jeremiah 15:17)  King Solomon wrote: “What has been will be again, and what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9) Many evangelicals as well in America placed their hope in President Trump to somehow lead the nation back to its Judeo Christian roots if he had remained in office.

God is in the business of planting nations and has determined their boundaries. In the Book of Acts we read; “From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands. God intended that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.” (Acts 17:26-27) God raised up President Trump primarily to use Him to bless Israel and to bring a certain peaceful stability to the Middle-East as God used King Cyrus to bless the Jewish people. Cyrus was God’s servant only in the sense that God used Him to work out His purposes for Israel.

Now America has a great spiritual heritage with its Judeo-Christian roots and in the past in that nation we have seen many Godly men and women raised up by God to preach the Gospel of the kingdom and America has seen many genuine Holy Spirit empowered revivals and many missionaries sent out into God’s harvest field. However, where is America today spiritually as a nation? The nation is a nation full of idolatry. It is following hard on the heels of Europe which today is post-Christian and neo-pagan. An idol is anything that pre-occupies our time that in itself replaces our love first and foremost for God. When Israel backslid spiritually, morally, socially and ethically it was because of idolatry which involved embracing the customs, the false religions, the entertainments, the pleasures and the pursuits of the pagan nations surrounding them.

As a notable preacher said at one time; “A ship in the water is okay but water in the ship isn’t.” We are “to be in the world but not of the world.” It is one thing to find ourselves being rescued from this present evil age but something else again for God to take the world out of us! May the Lord keep us from the evil one. May we not conform to the pattern of this world even as the Lord Jesus is not of the world. May we be sanctified by the truth, His Word is truth. Our Lord Jesus prays this for believers as their Great High Priest as He prayed this for His disciples just before He was crucified. (John 17:15-17)

When you look at modern America today it is a nation full of idols. Ray Comfort of Living Waters Ministries put it this way when he writes and I quote; “If I were to ask you, “What do you think the number one sin in America is,” I wonder how you would answer that. Would you say abortion? adultery? fornication? pornography? homosexuality? Is it violence? What is the number one sin? I believe it’s idolatry because God saw fit to address idolatry in the first two of the Ten Commandments. And sadly, much of the church couldn’t even define what idolatry is. You know what idolatry is? It’s making a god in your image, having another god before Him. Creating a god you feel comfortable with. This is normally how idolatry works. It works like buffets. You like buffets? I do. Served instantly what you want, when you want it, and you get more if you want it, just like that. That’s what idolatry’s like.

In a buffet, you go out and take the sweet things you like and you make a meal that delights your heart. Well, that’s what idolatry does. It takes all the nice things about God, His holiness is left aside, His justice is left aside, His righteousness left aside, but you take mercy, love, kindness, and sweetness, and you create a nice sweet god that you can cuddle up to and not feel uncomfortable with. That sin leads to all other sins.

Adolf Hitler was an idolater. He had an image of a god in his mind, and his god allowed him to carry out his evil agenda. And we live in a country that draws nearer to God with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. They don’t embrace the God of the Bible. It’s the god of their own image, and that leads to all other sins, including homosexuality, adultery, pornography, etc. We have lost the fear of God in our nation.” (End of quote)

No matter who it is in the Oval Office they cannot save America or make America great again. This is God’s work alone to enthrone a leader or to dethrone him, to plant a nation or to uproot it. If that man seeks God’s wisdom to govern then God will give him more wisdom, however, if that man does not seek His wisdom then ultimately he will be removed. (Daniel 2:20-22) God has said in His Word; “Righteousness exults a nation but sin is a disgrace to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34) There is no doubt that at one time in the past America had been a great nation under God but now things have changed.

Whether it is a pre-occupation with sport, the pursuit of pleasure, the pre-occupation with entertainment, the sodomite agenda, the moral and ethical decline, the pursuit of material possessions and the accumulation of wealth and power it is all idolatry, not to mention the altars of the abortion clinics where babies are sacrificed for non-therapeutic reasons for expediency and convenience. Last week Joe Biden released a statement celebrating the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision that has resulted in killing 62 million babies through abortions. The decision, handed down on January 22, 1973, overturned pro-life laws offering protection for unborn children in most states across the country, and made abortions legal and virtually unlimited.

Now God will put up with many sins before He brings about judgement but with the sacrificing of babies because of the idol of expediency, He draws the line as He did with Israel when they sacrificed their children on the altars of the demonic pagan god Molech. God withholds judgement because “He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) It would see that the axe has already been laid to the root of America? God is looking for the fruit of repentance before anything else (Matthew 3:10) Seasons of spiritual refreshing from the presence of the Lord cannot come until there is first repentance. (Acts 3:19)

God in His love for the American people, for His by and large backslidden Church and Israel, raised up President Trump to give a reprieve, a rather brief period of time for Israel and America to get their act together spiritually as He would rather have mercy than judgement because “mercy triumphs over judgement.” (James 2:13) We are also told in God’s Word that “judgement begins in the House of God.” (1 Peter 4:17) Donald Trump’s presidency has also been a reprieve from God for the wider Body of the Messiah to get rid of the false hyper faith money preachers, the kingdom Now advocates and the ecumenical and interfaith relationships, and the extreme Charismania satiated with its emphasis on miracles, signs and wonders, its stage shows, its gurus, its seeker friendly, watered down gospel preaching and the myriad of false prophets and teachers scratching the itching ears of God’s people telling what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear.

Many of their listeners turn aside to chase after myths, false prophecies, dreams and visions and listening to stories these ‘prophets’ have made up out of their own imaginations. (2 Timothy 2:3-4) (Ezekiel 13:2) (Jeremiah 23:16) One of the things the COVID-19 has stopped is those huge mega church meetings where, for the most part, the sheep were being fleeced of their hard earned cash by those shepherds who feed only themselves, an accursed breed as Jude and Peter calls them. (Jude 1:12) (2 Peter 2:14)

Having said this, when the hour glass runs out and there is no national repentance and a turning back to God and a desire from within wider Christendom to “ask for the ancient paths to walk in them,” judgement inevitably follows.  In the rime of Jeremiah the prophet there were a myriad of false prophets doing exactly what they are doing today. The Babylonians were advancing but the people of God had the temple and their religious activity and were prosperous and thought they would never see disaster or the sword because their prophets had told them this. (Jeremiah 5:12) Jeremiah could not sit in ‘the circle of the Merrymakers’ the false prophets with their prosperity message but sat alone because the indignation of God rested upon him regarding the sins of God’s people and the judgement to come. (Jeremiah 15:17)

The last thing Jeremiah wanted to do was to tell the people what was coming but he could not hold the message in. (Jeremiah 20:9) Even if by some miracle President Trump is re-instated does not change the stark reality of where America stands spiritually as a nation. Let the so called ‘prophets’ make their proclamations of victory, having it good in this world and taking kingdom dominion and declaring faith and prosperity through dreams and visions, but hear what God says through His bond slave Jeremiah…

“The prophet who has a dream may relate his dream, but let him who has My word speak My word in truth. What does straw have in common with grain?” declares the LORD. “Is not My word like fire?” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock? “Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the LORD, “who steal My words from each other. “Behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the LORD, “who use their tongues and declare, ‘The Lord declares.’ “Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams,” declares the LORD, “and related them and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit,” declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 23:28-32)

Within the Body of the Messiah there is a place for dreams, visions and prophecies but compared to the Word of God these extra ‘manifestations’ are compared to straw which cannot feed the physical man. Grain however is nutritious and can feed the physical man imparting vitality, strength and health. Likewise, the wider Body of the Messiah cannot spiritually survive on ‘the straw’ of dreams, visions and prophecies but they can spiritually survive when they hear and obey and inwardly digest the ‘nutritious grain’ of the Word of God in their innermost spirit. The Word of God is a purifying fire burning out the spiritual dross that lies within His people, and the hammer that breaks open the hard hearts of the unsaved and unsanctified to receive the implanted word which is able to save the soul from sin and hell. In this sense it is written; “Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the Law.” (Proverbs 29:18)

And so God has said; “If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.” (Jer. 18:7–10)

America now stands at the cross roads. Will they still ask for the ancient paths of their Judeo-Christian heritage and walk in it or refuse it even as the hour glass is about to run out. God gave backslidden Israel one last chance because of His mercy but in their case He already knew the choice they would inevitably make. And so we read what God says through the prophet Jeremiah; “This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths: ‘Where is the good way?’ Then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’ (Jeremiah 6:16)

Right at this moment America is on the very brink of God’s judgement as are all the western nations traditionally associated with Judeo-Christianity especially in Europe. Islam is the modern day ‘Babylonians.’ China is also on the move with its expansionist global agenda. The Iranian regime are still crying out “death to America!” The only way to hold back and avert the coming judgement on America is for the America people to ask for the ancient paths that God has ordained for this great nation, that they might walk in them once again. Only God can make America truly great but it can only be done God’s way!
