“So many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favour of the LORD.’ “Thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘In those days ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” (Zechariah 8:22-23)
Anti-Semitism
About a week ago I watched a Mini-Series called “The Holocaust” and it traced the anti-Semitic experiences of the Weiss family in Germany prior to and including WWII. Up until Adolf Hitler started his political campaigns as early as the late 1920’s, German Jews were an integral part of Germany society, culture and life. Many Jews were German citizens and served in the armed forces and at every other level of society especially in the fields of medicine and science. They were good for the economy of the countries in which they lived throughout Europe in those early days before Anti-Semitism reared its ugly head once again and started gaining momentum in the early 1930’s. The Zionists went through Europe in the early 1930’s as well, telling the Jewish people to get out and go back to Israel because of the persecution to come. Many Jews were so ensconced in Europe, having made tremendous contributions to the economy and in other professional fields, decided to stay considering their contributions to the countries in which they lived. It was foreign to their thinking to even consider that they would become the off scouring of Europe but especially in Germany.
Statistics of Anti-Semitism
Today Anti-Semitism is on the rise again in Germany and in other places of Europe. On July 28th this year The Independent group of experts on anti-Semitism called for a greater struggle against antisemitism in Germany. According to the report, last year 40% of German residents held anti-Semitic views linked to Israel. Two years earlier, only 28% of respondents agreed with this statement: “With the policy Israel is taking, it is understandable why we have something against Jews.” 27% claimed: “What the State of Israel is doing to the Palestinians today is in fact no different from what the Nazis did in the Third Reich to the Jews.” 6% of Germany’s population is infected with “classic antisemitism”: They believe that the influence of the Jews is too great or that they themselves are guilty of being persecuted.”
Berlin’s schools
Josef Schuster, the president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, just a few days ago said there are still parts of the country where it is considered dangerous to be Jewish. “In some districts in major cities, I’d advise people not to identify themselves as Jews,” he said in an interview with the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. “Experience has shown that openly wearing a kippa or a necklace with the Star of David is enough to attract verbal or physical threats.” Schuster said anti-Semitism was increasing in Germany and accused the government of failing to “take the necessary actions” to tackle the trend. One important step, he added, would be the appointment of a commissioner to record attacks and serve as a point of contact for people targeted by prejudice.” Last week, the American Jewish Committee published the findings of a study that showed an increase in anti-Semitism in Berlin’s schools. Researchers interviewed 27 teachers from 21 schools in Berlin, with staff reporting they had noted a clear rise in the number of incidents. Another movement gaining momentum in Europe is the Neo-Nazi Movement. In Germany the government tries to curtail their activities but despite this they are still growing.” Even in America Ne-Nazism is on the rise.
History repeats itself
In the light of past history I am persuaded that many Jews in the western democracies will be marginalized and persecuted, not only in Germany but in Europe, America, Great Britain and even here in Australia it will become a conspicuous feature, as in these other nations. I am also persuaded that God will raise up committed Zionists to go through Europe telling the Jews to go back to Israel. Once again God will send the fishers and then the hunters. As Jeremiah the prophet writes; “Behold, I am going to send for many fishermen,” declares the Lord, “and they will fish for them; and afterwards I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them from every mountain and every hill and from the clefts of the rocks.” (Jeremiah 16:16) It happened in the early 1930’s in Europe and I am convinced it will happen again. According to God’s Word the Jewish people must go back to Israel because He has an appointment they must keep to meet their Messiah the Lord Jesus. (Ezekiel 37:1-10) (Zechariah 12:10-14; 13:1-2) According to the prophets Ezekiel and Zechariah Israel must be back in their land before they have a revelation of their Messiah.
Through applied pressure
What is happening in Europe and in other western democracies God is permitting because of His will and prophetic purposes He has for Israel. There are as yet many Jewish people throughout Europe and even in America and Great Britain and in Russia who are still to return to Israel and only applied pressure will force them to go back to their homeland. The Time of Jacob’s trouble still lays ahead for the nation of Israel as they are away from the LORD and idolatry is everywhere in the land and even sodomy is accepted and approved of by may secular Jews. Materialism and hedonistic living among young Israelis is a conspicuous feature today. Even the Judaism practiced in Israel is not Biblical Mosaic Judaism which has not existed since 70AD. Having said this Israel as a nation will be saved out of this time of Trouble for Jacob. (Jeremiah 30:1-7)
God has not finished with Israel
Be assured, God has not finished with the Jewish people by any means and the LORD has a faithful remnant chosen by Him to inherit the whole land of Israel. (Romans 11:1-6; 25-29) Once again it needs to be emphasized that the Church has most certainly not replaced Israel! This is why I write so much about Israel in these email updates because anti-Semitism and replacement theology is rapidly increasing in Christendom. Believing Gentiles must never forget the tremendous debt they owe to Israel. As Paul writes; “…who are Israelites, to whom belongs the adoption as sons, and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the Law and the temple service and the promises, whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Christ according to the flesh, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.” (Romans 9:4-5)
A faithful remnant
So then there is a faithful remnant of Israelites foreknown to God and reserved by Him who will survive the Time of Jacob’s Trouble and inherit the Land of Israel from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River. He has given the Jewish people the Land of Israel as an everlasting possession and because of his covenant made with Abraham and confirmed through Isaac and Jacob. God did not make this covenant with Ishmael and Esau the fathers of the Arab nations. (Genesis 15:17-19; 17:7-8, 17-22) Once the Lord Jesus the Messiah has come back to reign from Jerusalem Israel will become the capital of the whole world. As the prophet Zechariah writes; “So many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favour of the LORD.’ “Thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘In those days ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” (Zechariah 8:22-23) This is Israel’s glorious future on earth in the age to come!
