Israel to the rescue once again!

In yesterday’s edition of Israel Today a headline read; “Israel Can’t Take Syrian Refugees, but is Determined to Clothe and Feed Them.” The article went on to say; “More than 160,000 Syrian refugees have amassed near Israel’s border on the Golan Heights. Despite being told their entire lives that Israelis are bloodthirsty and heartless enemies, they are now seeking shelter in the Jewish state amid a merciless onslaught by their own dictatorial regime and its Russian allies. Israel, of course, cannot permit an influx of so many refugees, especially from a nation still officially at war with it. But, the Jewish state is determined to do all it can to help these poor souls, including feeding and clothing them to the best of its ability.

Standing with those who suffer

Over the weekend, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) sent 300 tents, 13 tons of food, 15 tons of baby food, 30 tons of clothes and shoes, and three pallets of medical supplies to the massive refugee camp taking form just over the border. The Israeli military did grant entry to six Syrians in dire need of emergency medical care. Four of them were newly-orphaned children who were wounded during indiscriminate aerial assaults by their own government. An IDF statement read:” In a unique and complex medical operation by the Bashan Division, six moderately to severely injured Syrian were received and treated last Friday night, including four children. According to reports from the Syrian side, the families of the children were killed in bombings during the fighting in Syria, and the children were rushed to Israel to receive treatment.” The children all received emergency first aid by IDF medics. Once stabilized, they were taken to a hospital in northern Israel.”

The Torah

It is written in Torah; “He executes justice for the fatherless and widow, and He loves the foreigner, giving him food and clothing. So you also must love the foreigner, since you yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt.” (Deuteronomy 10:18-19)

Once again we see the Torah in action in the lives of His people Israel as the Israelis reach out to those in need because God cannot deny His Word. It is understandable in the current hostile environment and with Islamic Jihad minded fundamentalism on every side threatening the security of Israel that they must be circumspect regarding their immigration policy because of the danger that many terrorists could also be among the refugees. Having said this once again we see the heart of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the IDF reaching out to the needy refuges and taking care of them in their camps still in Syria just over the border of Israel.

Acts of Mercy

There is no doubt that Prime Minister Netanyahu’s desire to see Israelis living at peace with their neighbours is clearly seen not only in these acts of mercy by Israelis and the IDF but very clearly portrayed in his public speeches especially in his latest video holding a soccer ball and recognizing that the Iranian people by enlarge do not want war with Israel but only the wicked Islamic Iranian regime of the Ayatollahs. Will the mainstream Media take note? Will the UN praise the Israelis for this latest act of mercy and generosity? What will the EU say about these acts of mercy and kindness that Israel is known for? How many times has Israel gone to the aid of other nations caught up in devastating earthquakes and other ecological disasters that have occurred in these nations? Is there any other Islamic country in the whole of the Middle-East that would do what Israel continues to do to this day in the area of humanitarian aid?

A Great Nation

Indeed in Torah the LORD Himself said to Abraham; “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:2-3)

We know that the nations of the earth would be blessed because God would send the seed of Abraham Yeshua Ha Mashiach to be the saviour of the world but also God’s plan is that Israel as a nation is to be a blessing to the world and this is not only taught in Torah but reflected in the latest mercy and boundless generosity of Israel in seeking to take care of the Syrian refuges just over the border. Whether it is in the area of advanced technology for the benefit of mankind, agriculture, medicine, humanitarian aid, or encouraging Arabs and Israel’s to live and to work side by side in Israel, it is a reflection of the nature and character of God reflected in his people and the harbinger of the future glory of Israel in the Messianic Millennial kingdom of Yeshua Ha Mashiach which is to come.

The Mountain of the House of the LORD

As the prophet Micah writes; “In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and the peoples will stream to it. And many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.” For the Torah will go forth from Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Then He will judge between many peoples and arbitrate for strong nations far and wide. Then they will beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer take up the sword against nation, nor will they train any more for war.” (Micah 4:1-3)

God has not finished with Israel

God has not finished with Israel as the prophet Jeremiah writes; “Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day and orders the moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—the LORD of Hosts is His name: “Only if this fixed order departed from My presence, declares the LORD, would Israel’s descendants ever cease to be a nation before Me.” This is what the LORD says: “Only if the heavens above could be measured and the foundations of the earth below searched out, would I reject all of Israel’s descendants because of all they have done,” declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 31:35-37)
